The new JamVOX is quite capable hardware/software solution & represents an excellent value from the collaboration of VOX & Korg. Add this thing to my "To own" list, its main feature-set includes:
* Guitar XTracktion function lets you cancel or extract the guitar part of an existing song. * 19 famous guitar amps * 12 cabinet models * 54 effect units (connect up to 6 in any order) * "Drag and drop interface * MP3 player * Pickup modeling * Guitar & microphone inputs * Stereo inputs/outputs * Dedicated 3" USB monitor speakers/interface * Extract or isolate guitar tracks & adjust tempo w/o pitch change * Record your own tracks * 100 drum patterns * CDs with backing-tracks included * 100 artist presets * Chromatic tuner * Pitch change function * Looping function * Metronome * Headphone jack * 5-lbs, about 6"x9.5"x6" (LWH) * XP/Vista ASIO compatible
Of course I haven't tried one but it looks great. The guitar extraction algorithms are unique & not the common center-cancel; it leaves a bit to be desired & from the demos sounds like it cuts a ton of highs. Perhaps future version will be better. For all the functionality though, its a few hours of overtime for this piece of gear. I'm anxious to get my hands on one.. GC may have it soon.
can't anyone make simple stuff anymore.why cram all this crap into one thing
.. i know how you feel bro'...this is from a guitar player who used a 47 year old amp on a gig last week...doesn't get much simpler than that......... but i can see the attraction for a player who uses the computer a lot for music and wants a decent guitar sound like an amp without the hassle of miking.... i'm still looking for some reels for my Akai reel to reel 4 track to record demos...want to hear those mullard 12au7s's on playback.....
I saw/heard this in action last week.. great little practice tool - but reliant on your computer. Beauty is, the unit itself is the "dongle" and will unlock the software on any computer. Great price, I think, and taps that market a little harder.
We've come a long way since the JS-5 JamStation. Longer since the days of those 47-year old amps.
