Does anybody have an opinion on PH-1 or PH-1r?
I have never heard them, are they worth getting? I suppose the price is high...
I have the PH-2 and I don�t think it is a very good phaser, but that could be because I don�t know how to fiddle with the knobs... |

| I have both the PH1 and the PH1r. Both are fantastic phasers. If you don't think they're that great, maybe you're looking at the wrong type of effect and have something else you're looking to achieve. There are of course others phasers that have slightly different sonic qualities, but you can't go wrong with Boss. |

| I have a PH-1r, it is one of the best sounding pedals I have, I would not sell it for anything. It has the added resonance knob that the PH-1 does not, more versital I think. |

| Yes, of the two versions, I think the PH1r is more versatile too. But if versatility isn't an issue and vintage sounds are, you'll be well off enough with the PH1. |

heres my PH1 story:
a few years ago i was nosing around a hockshop and saw a PH1 in its original box.i dont use many effects except delay, so i wasnt that interested in it, but i noticed it was a metal screw version so i knew it was an older Boss pedal.
after a hands on examination, the thing that struck me about it was its condition...PERFECT!! i mean, it was totally unmarked and still had a new smell about it. you know what i mean, a new pedal still has that lustrous, dust & dirt free quality about its nooks & crannies.
then I found out why - it didnt work! the light worked but no effect.
the dude didnt believe me, he thought i was haggling the price down. i offered what anyone might ask for a pedal not working - very little as i didnt know if it could be fixed.
anyway it was there for quite a few months, and in the end i got it cheap. a bit of a gamble as the op amps might have been unavaiable if they needed replacing after possibly 25 years. they stopped making the PH1 in 1981.
but fortunately my amp guy was able to source 2 new op amps which were the fault of this pedal.
my theory is that the original owner in late 70's / early 80's found it defective after very little if any use, but never bothered to get it fixed and it was consigned to the back of a closet for a couple of decades, safely boxed up.
its good to have such an old model in such good condition.should jack the value up one day! |

Mine is not so good...
I bought a boxed silver screw PH-1 of Ebay about a month ago. It was shipped as unrecorded mail the day after I bought it. Since then no one knows what happened to it.  |

| You're right. Sometimes it can take an awful long time. I once lost a shipment from Amazon. After 6 weeks they agreed to send the shipment again. I then received 2 identical parcels on the same day. Looked like the second shipment flushed the first one out. |

Very happy with my PH-1r. Beat up like nothing I've ever seen (which is how I like them- you know they're good if they've seen some living and loving) but still working perfectly - especially for its age.
