Ah poop. "That's what I call customer service".
Who are they again? - just so I NEVER buy anything from them. |

after a VERY heated discussion with the manager of the store that sold me the amp they agreed to let me return it locally for a full refund including shipping.
downside is that it managed to get me so worked up that my ulcer flared up and i ended up throwing up. heh. only after i threatened to contact corporate HQ was a workable solution pitched my way. |

Sellers have to refund shipping if the product is fauly, or damaged in transit. They should also pay the shipping for the customer to return it to them.
Basically a refund for a faulty/damaged product should put the customer in exactly the same financial situation they were in before buying the product.
Don't believe anything else they tell you. It's the law. |

Bummer on the amp. Congrats on the 500. I've ALWAYS FOUND, when in this situation : Go to the store (never a phone call), get the manager (not a pee-on), & bitch at the top of your lungs, so the entire store can hear how you got hosed. Most managers recognize this situation as bad PR & will be much more willing to work something out quickly, just to shut you up & get you out of the store. I've been overcompensated in a fair percentage of situations. Sqeaky wheel gets the oil.

heh.
i know i could have started blasting em, but i only try to lay the blade on the correct throat that needs slitting. i have lots of friends that manage corporate retail and the only person's day i wanted to ruin was the azzhat that gave me the runaround and lied to me.

bummer on the amp.... we have a similar law in Ireland basically the goods sold have to be fit for the purpose intended..although sometimes when i had a problemo in the past i have encountered similar BS from retailers, part of the reason along with the better prices,i started ordering most of my stuff online...i think these days it's a global thing with the hardsell attitude...although(touch wood) since i started getting most of my stuff on the 'net i have been pretty lucky with the quality and service...even the last thing i bught in a store in town was a couple of acoustic guitars i got a good deal and no hassle but then i'm 38 and been around so i wouldn't have put up with it so they don't try it on..but while i was there i saw a couple of kids been given a load of a crap from one of the other guys in the shop, basically the same patronising shit i got when i was younger... and one of the last internet 'tabboo's' i have....would i buy a guitar online...?.. i have to say yes i think i would chance it next time...... havin some 'help' with the smilies this mornin'..... .... |

yah.
i actually went to a diff GC tonight and talked with the store manager.
i think what irked me the most about the whole thing with the feeling that he was guarding his salary bonus and loss prevention quota ahead of what was right and fair to me.
the store manager agreed with me that it sounded like he was guarding his salary bonus a little too tightly.
i know i'm still open to the idea of buying something by mail... cuz ya gotta go where the gear is. i'm just a little gunshy right now heh. last 2 tube amps i've had shipped were both banged up badly. |

Hi Zentropa
Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned by all of us here. I know If at all possible, I will always try to pick up a tube amp in person.
So what was the outcome - resolution to this issue?
Regards Dr. Bob

yah, i prefer in person, but revert to mail order in these scenarios: 1. there aren't any locally and i get sick of waiting. 2. buying by mail w/ shipping still saves 30% or more off of what i would pay locally.
resolution was, after a long and heated discussion i got a full refund including shipping. the manager had me in full blown rage mode, which happens about once every 2 or 3 years. |
