I've tried to find a DR-55 or DR-110 at a giveaway price but they're actually quite sought after so it's not easy to get them for peanuts anymore.

I love the way Rammstein used an old drum machine on their 'Mutter' album and wanted to try something similar. They mixed it with real drums in a very interesting way. I got a Roland TR-626 but it actually sounds too good to use in the same way

Fad Gadget's debut album "Fireside favourites" has the DR-55 pinning it all down and it sounds great...ditto John Foxx's use of the CR-78 Compurhythm on "Metamatic" - both minimalist and seminal works ...Roland drum machines were behind most of the new wave/electronic music of that period.
