I have done some mods on an SD-1, and I wish a couple of them to be activated by push/pull pots on the level and drive knobs. Does anyone around here know where to find these pots for this?

Thanks,

Doug

Thanks for the welcome and the responses! I have lloked at both sites and I am a bit confused. The Level pot that I hgave is marked M10k 62C and the Drive pot is M1M 62c. Do I need to get the exact pot values? I would think so, but I don't know. I found the 1m on smallbear, but not the other.

Thanks,

DOug

P.S. Great forum!!!!!

Watch out for cheap commercial audio pots, awful taper
I put a push/pull pot in my wah for the Q and Volume switch,
The 250k pot didn't reach 100k till about 7 or 2:00 on the dial

Well, I ordered the 1M from small bear and am still trying to find a solution for the 10k push/pull pot. I know there must be some way to do it, because the analogman.com guy puts one on the level pot of one of his SD-1 mods.

I guess I will keep looking......

Thanks again,

Doug

These are linear taper; I'm guessing that you're after audio taper for the 10K level control?

I saw that mouser page. I thought that I needed audio taper, but am I wrong on this? I know that Analogman uses a push/pull on the level control on one of there SD-1 mods, but wouldn't it have to be a 10k audio?

Is there any way to tell if the stock pot is Linear or Audio? It sure would be great if one of these from Mouser would work!

Thanks,

Doug

You can put an ohmmeter across the center and one of the outer lugs, and then observe the resistance change as you rotate the control (it's slightly easier with an analog meter). You'll either see a fairly constant change in resistance from minimum to maximum, or most of the change will occur at the last fraction of rotation, and from there you'll note whether the taper is linear or logarithmic, respectively.

You'd think that for something affecting perceived change in loudness, you'd want a logarithmic (audio) taper, but then the volume control in my Ampeg GU-12 amp is 1M linear. Go figure...

I measured the pots, and both are linear. I happened to find a 10k linear online and bought it. I installed it a couple of days ago. I still can't find a 1m linear push pull for the second mod. Well, actually, I did find one on the Weber site, but I don't think it is a mini, and thusly, would no fit. I am enjoying though having this project almost done!

Doug

P.S. I'll try to post some pics soon.
