Am trying to pick up some DOD pedals from when I was younger and couldn't afford anything; I remember the livery, and have some crap magazine shots, but what's the history with the B variant pedals? Also, were there some earlier ones with no designation?

Looking specifcally at the Grunge, death metal, punkifier, juicebox, milbox, etc. Mid 90's era.

I assume that the B and C versions are revisions of the original design. These may come about because parts become unavailable or because the engineers feel the new design is significally better than the old one. If you compare to Boss pedals there are lots of pedals than have been changed over the years. Where DOD adds a B or C, Boss tend to keep quiet about their changes and we have had to figure them out ourselves.

Which are better? That's a very subjective question with no correct answer.

I've spent my lunch nosing around, and it appears the ones i want had the model on the right rather than the left. I'm sure they're exactly the same, but my nostalgia is specific :)

oh, and some have the DOD logo above the footswitch rather than on it've noticed....

Agreed.
There was a guy who mailed me about a year ago saying he was considering setting up a Dod web site. We discussed a little bit about best practices for setting up the site but I don't know if he ever got started or not.

Double agreed :)

If I buy enough I might have a go :D

And one for BC Rich as well. There as so many companies that ignore their heritage. I've got a mid 90's silver series mockingbird. It took months, literally, of searching to ID it.
