I buyed an AC-2, interesting pedal on my Telecaster, but really not good working with my Gibson Les Paul.
That's my problem: Telecaster in myopiniongot a good andacoustic-like sound even by itself, the ac-2 added give the expected effect.
My Les Paul got high output pickup and alot of bass and sustain.
Well, I think ac-2 works cutting some frequencies and boosting other ones.
The effect is a very very lower volume and a bit confusing and muddy sound. In this situation I think there are more of the cutted frequencies and less of the boosted, so the result is too much is cutted and a little is boosted.
My answer is, the newer AC-3 which works with cosm and is told too be faker, got a different approach and can better process the defintly far from acustic sound of my Les Paul? Anyone has ever got them both?

COSM is half-assed but I wish Boss wouldn't go down that road.
Unfortunately, they're locked into it now to stay competitive...  |

spatescroll: did you get a cleaner result if you rolled off the volume on the LP a bit? Maybe try the AC-2 after a compressor in your chain to control what the AC-2 sees.
I've heard some very convincing sounds from AC-2.. I'd stay off the piezo mode!
COSM is nothing special in the world of emulation, modelling and imaging. AC-3 is meh.  |

I really like the AC-2 with a split humbucker, sounds like an acustic. A LP doesn't sound as convincing through it unless used in a full range system (through my mic input actually). I use the AC-2 to add a clean channel on my single channel amp that has a mic input.
I tried the AC-3 in a store for the reverb and houpfully extra gain, but I never got any convincing acustic sounds out of it. Used several single coil guitars and a Roland amp.
So I stay with the AC-2. |

| The bottom line is you really can't make an electric guitar sound like an acoustic no matter what you use. These are a good convenience for maybe one or two songs in a pinch, but not for anything longer than that. |

| I have an AC-2 and find it kinda muddy by itself, but I don't really use it for its fauxcoustic effects, I use it with distortion where I get this sorta compressed fuzz tones. |
