All the CDs of our second EP, "The Peaceful Technophobe" have now gone (some of them to Bossarea members around the world!).

We will NEVER reissue this CD, but all of songs are now available to download FREE at Soundclick , or if you have really low standards, Myspace . Tracklisting:

The Blue Screen Of Death (effects heavy rant ---> ambient folk)
Born At Full Power (anthem)
Mr.Ahmadinejad's Nuclear Powered Tie-Rack (instrumental stomper)
A Torch Is A Case For Holding Dead Batteries (shoegaze / post-rock)

If you would like to be added to the mailing list to be informed of the release of EP3, please email distantguns@hotmail.co.uk. We promise not to share your details with knobheads.

Cheers!

Hi red_riviera

Thanks you for your generous offer of the 5EP's to members of the forum

Please check your PM link form the members email that you supplied in your members profile.

BTW, the link in your profile is no longer active or valid.

Love the EPROM Bug , let me know if you need more, I have even bigger ones.

BTW, what is the busted laptop? It has to be some PC-WinDOZ based unit, as it has one of those Clitoris-mice nipples things, in the center of the keyboard GHB. (I wonder if TD spotted that?)

Cheers Dr.Bob

Have emailed you back.

The laptop is a Fujitsu that won't betray me again. If you can relate to what I mean, then you'll probably enjoy the first track on the EP.

(4 CDs left... so get in quick!)

I got the Ep yesterday and was completely blown by the cover, what a great idea using a chip!
I really enjoyed listening to the whole Ep, especially the first and last track, I like strange music. The Blue Screen of Death is a collage form of voices and instruments, interesting. Boss delays used all over the Ep, they are great instruments!
This is not so far away from the music I play myself, in a way, but with a more modern twist.
When listening I got the thought that if Syd Barret had lived and been active this would have been about what he wouldve sounded like.
In short a great Ep, get the download when possible.

Hi Goran
Thanks for the MINI review,
I am still waiting for my copy to arrive.

What number disk did red_riviera send to you.
I think I will be getting Number 18?

I really like some of the stuff on red_riviera's web pages/myspace.
I think I left the page running for a few hours.

Now you have me even more impatient.
It's a 4 day long weekend here in Melbourne, So I guess I won't be seeing any main for another day or so.

Regards Dr. Bob

Dr Bob:
Mine is no 32, and Im sure you will freak out completely by the chip on the cover.
Still listening to your Lynbrook now and then, a great piece of music! Do you still have it for downloads? Im sure some of the newcomers on the forum would have a listen.

Hi red_riviera & Guys

I thought I would let you know, that my copy of the CD arrived in this afternoon's mail.
Safe & sound, & as snug as a baby in a blanket.

Yep it was number 18
and fitted with an OKI MSM5128-15RS RAM from 1982
I guess it makes it a vintage cover already.

Hey red_riviera
That was a pretty cryptic return address....

As pleased as I am to have received my copy,
I wish you guys would have signed it for me, an oversight I'm sure.
It just makes it more personal, & who knows, you guys might end up really famous.

I will be listening to it a bit later.

Thanks heaps for being kind enough to mail it out to Oz.

Regards Dr. Bob

CDs have all now been despatched, so the songs are now available to download FREE at Soundclick , or Myspace.

Dr.Bob, glad you got the CD so quickly... yours is the ONLY ONE that is signed on the inlay. As for the return address... it's a sign that we live in such a small country when you can summarise your address in 8 digits . I have also been listening to Lynbrook & Holding Alex... i'm very impressed, the first one sounds like Boards Of Canada with it's sort of lurching, ambient sensation. The second one reminds me of John Martyn a bit with it's use of echoes. Great diversity across just two tracks, good work fella!

Hi red_riviera

First of all, apologies are in order.
I didn't see your signatures on the inside of the cover.

I was wondering if it was alright with you, to let my pro muso friend at work, have a copy of your CD, as a high quality 320Kb/S MP3 Rip?

No. is OK with me as well.

I agree with everything that Defrag wrote.
Good work, & leave on your list for any other of your EP's or work.

Thanks for your kind words, about "Lynbrook" & "Holding Alex"
It's all experimental stuff for me.
Although I want to record a bunch of SoundScapes like "Lynbrook".
The positive feedback on this idea, has been overwhelming.

I have a friend, who was going through Chemo, who lift it running in the background for more than 2 months straight.

I do this all on my own, & only the help of my toys.
It's time consuming, but rewarding to do it that way.

Please tell us a little more about your EP & any secrets you are prepared to divulge to us.
I know lots of the member would be very interested.

Regards & thanks again for your fine EP-CD.
Dr. Bob

PS thanks for the heads up about Boards of Canada, interesting stuff.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

We are starting to get some reviews in, so if anyone who has heard the tracks would like to rate it, here's your chance:

http://www.dieshellsuit.co.uk/article_detail.asp?rID=3143

As we say on our myspace page, there's no problem if you want to rip or copy the EP for your friends (as long as it is not done for profit).

We're happy to share how we get some of the sounds (no secrets), if you have any specific questions, just fire away and Distant Guns will fire back*.

Guys, the more I listen to this, the more I like it.

Blue screen of death is a particular favorite. Very Roger Waters influenced in my opinion, and very well done... Sounds a little like the album "Amused to Death" (that's a HUGE compliment).

I'd be really interested to know if the voices are samples, or you guys?
