Here is my current board. Featuring LS-2, PQ-3B, TW-1, PS-3, DD-6. Yes, I love Boss because theses pedals are sweet, nice, and so on, but also because they sound good.
*The DD-6 is without a doubt the one I won't, ever, let go. Tap Tempo, perfect, Hi-Fi sound. Yeah, that's a great pedal. I had to make a custom looper (a complicated one, AOP stages, FET switching), for the use I have of it, but now that this is complete, I can't think of another delay to go with it.
*The LS-2 comes then. Nor perfect, but I'm working on mods for it. It's a GREAT toolbox anyway. Boosts, Loops, and even cheap !
*The TW-1 remains my favourite dynamic wah so far. This sound... yeah, I tested lots of pedals, this one is unique. I love it, despite the fact it eats a little low end. I'm gonna fix it some day...
*The PQ-3B is a simple parametric EQ. Why does no one makes a simple parametrci EQ like this anymore ? It's soooo usefull... I use it to add some of the low end the OD removes, and to control the tone of this OD.
*I currently use the PS-3 both for octaver and chorus. I would go for a OC-2 and a CE-2 if the PS-3 alone can't do the trick, but if it can, I would have won the room of a Boss pedal.
Plus, the room is a key issue, considering how crowded by board is. The small Boss pedals are great for this.
I would go for a EHX Clone Theory for chorus, for example, but waoh, do you know how big it is ?? |

You know i'm a (beginning) pedal collector. So I got quite a choice.
But quite amazingly, I can't find the perfect board among all I got. o my board moved a lot recently. I even did not really use effects during the few past months.
This is a try to begin again. Some stuff will stay for sure, some won't.
We can find :
*A Trace Elliot SMX Dual Comp. A good bass (yeah, I'm a bass player, don't forget... ) compressor. Dual band, with a blend, that's a good stuff. I'm not a fan of comps but this one is sweet. I'm gonna test it and see if it remains there.
In the first LS-2 loop :
*Potentia, a distortion unit I made about one year ago. From light OD to crazy fuzz, thanks to two stages (a clean 20db Boost that I can use alone, and a OD stage). I use it for dirty OD (no boost, light gain) or synthy fuzz (full boost and gain). Not a single filter, it's wild ( and noisy).
*EHX Bassballs. I modded it, I put the inner trimpots outside. I use it in Distortion mode only. The two filters allow to control the sound with your playing, which I really miss in standard distortion. I use the first volume pedal (black) to control the gain, and so the filters. Almost like a wah. Combining foot and dynamic wah, that's great. Not really usefull everywhere but great anyway. I think I'll mod it further to allow seperate gain for distortion and filters control. This one is gonna stay.
The 2 volume pedals are before (for gain) and after (for volume) OD/Dist units. Because I don't like to bother myself with precise volume settings on ODs (in fact the Bassballs does not even have one). Plus, I use the last one for violoning effects on synth-like sounds.
The looper with the DD-6 is quite strange. There is a true bypass, but that's not really usefull. Let's say it's not there.
Only the input is switched, so when the delay repeats a sound, no matter what is the state of the switches, it goes throught (except when true bypassed of course). One switch switches the input, the other is momentary and invert the state of the first. If loop is OFF, it's a momentary ON switch, if loop is ON, it's a momentary OFF switch.
I use it like this : I feed only a huge sudden sound in the delay, using the momentary ON switch, and the delay repeats it. So I can keep my bass line clean, without the crazy standard repeats of the delay. I jsut add some delay kick when I want. That seems stupid for many people (particularly guitarists) but for me as a bassist it's just wonderfully usefull. I love it, and this pair (looper + DD-6) is never going to leave my board. Ever.
It's FET powered (as Boss bypass) because I needed silent switching. The delay would repeat every switch sound, I wanted to get rid of this. |

| Heavy duty! The reason I ask is becuse I've seen some people post pictures of their pedalboard and it's more like a surfboard! Literally! I'm always thinking, "There's no way in hell that gets used on stage." I wish I could get away with having a good healthy sized board like the one you posted. Very cool indeed. |

Thanks !
I post on Talkbass sometimes, there is this gigantic "Post your pedalboard" thread, and yes, some boards are closer to the surfboard than the pedalboard...
I tested this board through a few rehearsals, and I think it will slightly move. I don't like the idea of having chorus and octaver on the same pedal for example, I think I'll go for a OC-2 + CE-2. Plus, I'll have to make this board bigger to put some other pedals (my Phase 90 is still waiting...)
The "surfboard" I don't use is there :

| It looks like you are using a closet door for the pedal board in one of those pics. Its collections like yours that help me justify buying a random pedal here and there, because at times I think I really don't need another pedal because I already have too many. But then seeing your collection/set-up I realize while I do have a few pedals, I don't have nothing near the amount you have, and maybe my pedal "addiction" is not as severe as I thought it was.... |

this is my current set up that i use on all gigs... as you can see the fz3 is back again...!!! i have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it as it doesn't sound great with the od2 in non turbo mode.. anyone compared the od2 to the od3..? would it work better for me as a booster than the od2....? .....the ge7 is for my acoustic guitar and mandolin as a preamp straight to the pa...... |

Well, you did better than me. I can't gig without my hand made stuff, and some pedals just do not exist among the Boss line so I go EHX, Trace Elliot...
A whole Boss pedalboard, it's stylish, thought.
Jack : it's my pleasure if I can help...
In fact it is a door... |

It's a BF-2, repainted, that I totally cleaned. Bare metal, now.

I love that pedal. It's injured, hurt, but it just lived. Here, at home, it can rest... |
