http://www.gearwire.com/electroharmonix-22caliberpoweramp-demo.html
Saw this on my travels on the net... could be a handy thing to have especially if you play live with tube amps...pity it's only 22 watts but the way EH tend to upgrade their stuff all the time i wouln't be suprised if a 40 or 50 watt version was on the way as well...i also saw a rather nice looking stereo reverb pedal their bringing out plus a couple of vocoder things as well.. |

| Gotta love that warning! Zack has the same with the Nano Amp, Don't plug in to another pedal!!! But EH is definatlly inovative now as they were back in the day. Would like to try that stereo reverb! |

| Hmmmm.... and you plug the output into the next pedal along in your chain... and blow up the input stage. No wonder there are warnings in the manual! |

22 watts according to EH...i can see where Laurie is coming from even though they warn you there is bound to be someone who fries their pedals by not reading the instructions... ...i'd like to see one with a bigger output(50 watt) and maybe maybe a slightly different design to a stompbox but still small enough to fit into a gig bag or box....i might be tempted to get one for rehearsing and build a smaller board made up from my spare pedals and put it at the end of the pedalchain and just drag one of my 1x12's along with my guitar...long story short...our 'rehearsal room' has become a bit bare lately due to a ridiculous tit for tat between a few people in the band over who owns what... .last week instead of getting involved or having to drag my large and heavy valve amps in and out i brought a few loose pedals and my HZD booster and put the HZD at the end and direct into the rehearsal PA(which thankfully i own and is staying put)..i still like the HZD for this even though i'm sure Laurie didn't design it for that purpose.... |

22 watts in a solid state amp is really too little. Making it 50+ would be much better idea. I can imagine many guitarists putting the thing in their boards just in case they need a backup or they are lazy to carry a big amp. I guess we'll have to wait for EHX to realize this. Otherwise it would defo be a buyer. |

| I've got one of these and I love it. I'm surprised how loud it is. I use it for a backup on stage and for low volume, late night practicing. I put a Metal Zone in front of it. Good stuff. |

Are they out a while ..?..i got the impression they were just released...how loud can this thing get before it starts to distort..?...i'm a single coil sorta guy and i like a lot of clean headroom..i've noticed with a lot of those demos for gear their using guitars with humbuckers or some sort of high output pickup and all they are interested in is how dirty the amp can get... ... |

And what do you use as a preamp? Or can you just plug a guitar into it? |

Hi Nibbles I gather that it uses a non standard plug pack power supply. A higher voltage one I suspect.
Any chance of asking for you to take a few internal pictures of your 22 caliber amp in a pedal. For our Pedal Internals Thread.
I have a feeling I know which hybrid SIP power amp IC they are using.
I have been playing with a few 22W SIP PWR Amp chips at work, during the past year.
And I did think about building one into a slightly larger Hammond box, like the 1590BB size, which is about twice the width of an MXR, & this unit.
And has anyone seen or searched for the schematic or service manual for it?
Regards Dr. Bob |

I think you need a preamp. Maybe a SansAmp/POD/... |

Hi Guys
Power Supply specifications - take directly from EHX. http://www.ehx.com/products/22-caliber
18-volt 1.66A power supply included.
Other Quick specs. 22-watt power amp that fits in the palm of your hand. Handles 4/8/16 ohm speaker loads automatically. Bright switch adds presence and definition. Smooth and surprisingly loud. |
