It would entail replacing the switch for a momentary version (essentially, finding the part they use in the FS-5U). I'd just buy a momentary footswitch (FS-5U, keyboard sustain pedal or similar) and be done with it.

Hi midibuddy, stinkfoot & guys
If I remember, there was a thread recently, where someone managed to make the latching a momentary, or the other way around.
I think, he-they managed to locate a tab, on the switch, to change it's characteristics.

Hi there BossFan! Can you help me modding my FS-5L to FS-5U ? I just opened the footswitch metal case and saw the switch... but couldn't find the blue plastic tab you're talking about, that I should take out... Can you give me some tips please? Thank you! |

You must open the switch,(you have to dessolder it from the board) remove the central piece and the little blue piece will come out. Then reassemble the central piece in place( don't loose the metallic contacts attatched) The piece is like the blue one on the left, in the picture.
Good luck |
