Hey guys I have a Hyper Fuzz FZ2 very RARE! it was working perfectly and then out of the blue it stopped working. when i engage the pedal the LED turns on and the signal runs thru the pedal but I get no effect what so ever! any ideas?? all these electronic shops wanna charge me around $65 just to take a look at it with no guarantees so any info would help! thanks.

Yeah I may have plugged in the wrong power source now that i think of it.

Glad you took my suggestion to ask around here Scotty!

One of the resident techies should be around soon who can most likely offer a little bit of advice.

Welcome to the forum!!
pm me and i can shoot you the schems for the fz2.
What were you doing when it went poof?
Accidentally use the wrong power source?
Have you opened it to see if anything is wrong like a blown track or component?
Am sure others are willing to help get this going again

Hi guitarboy829

Welcome to the forum from Australia.

Like Christo wrote.
We need more information on what actually happened to it, maybe upload some pics.

Do you have the tools & Technical skills to repair this?

As you are most likely aware,
It can be very difficult to remote diagnose a problem, if you lack some of the technical skills & tooling to perform the repair/s.

Think back a bit, & write anything & everything that happened to it before it stopped working.

Regards Dr. Bob

Hi guitarboy829

You didn't answer any of the other questions?

The part of the circuit, that protects & regulates the DC-in-power, is a bit more complex in an FZ-2
With your Multimeter & ESR/Cap meter, you'll have to check:
D7
Q11
C36
C37
And possibly
R46
C38
As well as a visual inspection of the PCB for any burned out/carbonized tracks.

All depending on the amount, & type of damage, that the Wrong/reversed voltage caused.

What type of Wrong voltage was it?
It would help us a lot to know.

Good luck with the repairs.

Regards Dr. Bob
