I've just finished seting up my home rig for rough recordings and quiet night playng. I'm using an X2 wireless system for my guitars and a pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones for monitoring. Effectively I can walk around the whole house playing guitar not having to worry about cables or disturbing my housemate or neighbours with noisy guitar amps... Sweet.

Hopefully this will increase my music writing output. I am generally more creative at night but haven't been recording demos of many of my ideas because I wasn't set up to be able to do it quietly.

Hey Nosi,

I'm using a pair of Sennheiser HDR120 headphones for monitoring. They're nothing particularly special, just the cheapest decent quality wireless headphones I could find. The sound quality is pretty good though.

I chose the X2 wireless for guitar because it was relatively cheap aswell (although I did have to order it from the US as the price is more than double if you were to buy it here in Australia).

When I record something properly I do it at my friend's studio, so the sound quality of this set up is fine for home. Plus I hate cables

Yeah, I reckon I've lost quite a few good ideas over the years because I haven't recorded them... I always think "I'll remember that in the morning"... but of course, I don't

I think stuff like that has happened to everyone who ever played a guitar....Keef Richards famously wrote the riff for 'satisfaction' in the middle of the night are recorded it on a tape recorder in his bedroom and forgot about it until the next day when he noticed the tape was at the the end of the reel so he rewound it,put it on play and heard the riff...so possibly all the forgotten stuff between us all their might of been a US no 1 hit in there....

Natthu ...excellent set up ....my birthday is in janurary so i might start dropping a few hints...

I have a Sampson AP1. It's great. The receiver fits into my BCB-6 because it is the same size as a Boss pedal, although it takes a 12 volt adaptor. The big drawback is there is no place for an adaptor on the transmitter, so you have to use batteries.

Hey P4P... the X2 receiver is only a little wider than a Boss pedal (same length) and runs off 9V (it chews batteries like crazy). I don't actually have it in my PB1000 though. I guess that's almost a waste of compatability

Yeah I have that too and supply it with 12v but if you use a battery snap to jack cable you can easily use 9v to power it.

how could it? From electrical to radio back to electrical?? something's gotta give in there.

even the digital stuff.. but it's a compromise you make for massive freedom.

I use a lot of effects with my wireless setup. Suffice to say, my guitar's tone isn't particularly important in this situation. The end tone isn't really affected by the wireless. It's not much of a compromise at all.

I do still sometimes use a cable and plug straight into my tube amp without effects at all. Obviously I can't do that late at night or my neighbours and housemate will complain...
