Are tthere really ANY other pedals with the same or nearly the same type of vibrato as the VB-2? True Pitch vibrato? All I've tried are more "univibe/vibe"-style, and that's not as fun!
This might be Off Topic, but I'd appreciate some tips on what to look for until I can find a reasonably priced VB-2 |

| There's nothing else out there that's exactly like the VB2. If there were, I don't think the VB2 would command such a high price tag these days. Unfortunately the days of finding a VB2 at a "reasonable" price are long gone, unless you run across soemone that has no idea what they are worth. Best of luck. |

The thing is...I DID run into one of those about a year ago. But at the time I was so hard pressed of money (had juts bought a double bass...) that i had to sell it on. Imagine my regret...
I bought it from a music store, like new, with box, labels, booklet and all, for 500SEK (about 70-75$) along with an early CE-2 in the same condition. I made a godd profit when i sold it for about 350-400$ but still, now I regret it a loooooot!
Guess I'll have to keep looking, that deal just fell in my lap....it's not very likely to happen again. |

| The only alternative I can think of is the CE-1. Not sure if the vibrato effect is the exact same as teh VB-2 or if it's just similar. |

| I had a CE-1 as well for a while. Not even close. The Vibrato in the CE-1 is more of a leslie-style vibrato. Fast and kind of thin. Not that sweeping smooth vibrato of VB-2. |

| There are mods for the CE2 and CH1 that give a true vibrato effect, but these are quite different from the strange features of the VB2. I'm afraid it's in a class of it's own. Hopefully one day, there will be a VB3 or a good clone of the VB2 at an affordable price. I have a feeling that due to the parts used, which may not even still be manufactured, and the complexity of the VB2's circuit, that a clone may never happen to find it's way into the marketplace. Hopefully I'm wrong in assuming that. |

| Yes, I've heard of mods to the CE-2 and CE-5 that supposedly are very good. Might have to try it. |

I don't know the technical side of it, but the idea is to "turn off" the dry signal and only get the "chorus/vibrato"-signal. The CE-5 apparently feeds the dry thorugh one side and the effects signal thorugh the other side when used in stereo. So the "easy" mod is to plug an "empty" jack plug into one of the jacks and then the vibrato signal should sound out the other....
The mod by www.fxdoctor.com does this internally.
Mind you, I haven't tried any of these myself. Yet. |

| You can also do this mod yourself by ordering the DIY mod kit from www.indyguitarist.com and there is a soundclip of the "vibrato" mod for the CE2. |

| I'd be really surprised if BOSS don't release a VB-3 in the next year or two. It's commanding $400 on eBay, everyone who has one raves about amazing it is and from what I've read, its useful to all sorts of guitarists so there is a large potential market for it. Surely therefore it makes sense to release an updated version a la OD-3/BF-3. |

I just had the CE-5 vibrato mod done by Josh at FX Doctor. It's more along the lines of the CE-1's vibrato: Leslie-like and chorusy. It's nice, but it's definitely not a VB-2, which has smooth pitch vibrato without any of the metallic, chorus-like undertones.
I enjoy using the PS-5 SUPER Shifter for true vibrato--I use the "Flutter" mode. Granted, this mode is only an "unlatched" mode--the effect stays on as long as you hold the pedal down--and, you have to get past that first "chirp/leap" bend, but after that, it's the same vibrato as the VB-2. I wish I could get a mod so that the effect would stay on without having to keep the pedal down, and I would like to get rid of that initial "chirp/leap" bend.

| SIB Vibromatic is supposed to be exactly the same smooth pitch vibrato, only it lacks the unlatch function of the VB-2. |
