Hi Guys,

I bought a second hand Ibanez AD9 analog delay. Now I'm wondering if this is a re-issue or an original one. Does anyone knows how I can find out?

Thanx & greetz!

Hi FRANZONI
If you see an Ibanez DL10 or even the Ibanez Soundtank DL5
They are very anaolg sounding,
max delay time is about 400mS without adding, the extra RAM mod.
which is in the rigfht ball park for some nice slapback,
and they are cheap, especially the DL5 black beatle looking version.

I have both, I can tell you more in a PM if you want, I have some internal pics of both, electronicaly & circuit wise, thay are identical.

Try one before you dismiss the Ibanez name.
The DL10 is starting to fetch bigger prices, as time goes on.

Regards Dr. Bob

PS -- I'm currently on a remote dial up account, about 100 miles from home for the next few days,
but I will be checking in, most evenings, if you have any Tech questions.

I'm sure Dr Bob is on the money with his suggestions, and there are a couple of DL10s on eBay at the moment. I've found the RV-3 really good for slapback and they're not outrageously priced like the Boss DMs. I've bought both a DM-2 and a DM-3 recently and it set me back AU$500!

I also bought an original AD9 but would lean slightly towards the DMs for slapback if money is no obstacle.

thanks guys...i can pick up a ad9 ibanez reissue for about the same as a new dd3 about 125 euro(i already have 2 on the 'board)the older of my dd3's is a dirter, more analog sounding one than the newer one i bought last year...i was thinking of putting that one on a small board with the ch1 and the ge7 with a volume pedal for the acoustic guitar as we do the odd acoustic gig as well....is it true you get a volume drop with analog delays..??.I read a review of the maxon ad9 reissue and it was slated over this....and it retails well over 300 euro.....i use the older boss dd3 at the moment for slapback but i think it sounds better for short and long repeats than slapback....

well, I've compared it with my DM-3, and it has a bit warmer tone I think. it sure adds some colour at your sound, more than a DM-3. I have a DM-2 on the way right now so I haven't compared it with that yet but I think the AD9 is very good for a slapbackdelay, sounds very sweet.
I must admit I don't know if there's a difference in sound between the re-issue and the original since I've never heard the AD-9 re-issue
