All of Kaz's posts are full of great Engrish.. something like this in every post:
"The other parts are original and A Super-Hot item working perfectly!Thankyou for looking at my auction!"
All said, if there's something rare you want, kaz may be your man. |

| There's a few 5 digit pedals around. I've only seen BF-2, GE-6 and CS-1s with 5 digit serial numbers so far. Not sure if any of these ever had 4-digit numbers starting with 0. |

Hey, I sold a CS-1 to StratoSphere a year or two ago. |

Well, it's 8/10 cosmetically and #0500 - but with a black screw. I'm so tempted to stick an SS on there.. |

I also purchased a pedal that I believe was from Strato. A TW-1 with a 5 digit ink stamped serial 10100. It should be a silver screw but it does not have one, nor does it have a thumb cut box top.
Weird how there is so many coincidences in this thread. |

This 5-digit thing is intriguing me now, and I think I need to find myself an example for the collection..
Is your #10100 TW-1 a TOUCH wah, or had they changed it by that point?
Also, I'm presuming that the 5-digit ink stamps are LATER than the usual final ink stamp #0500.. would that put most of them @ April 1981?
RightFootBoss - can you get a rough date from your TW-1 off pots or ICs?

It is a T-wah from Dec. 1980.
I admit I don't know what ICs or pots are but after looking at every little component inside the pedal I see nothing resembling a date. |

Interesting.. I think that #10100 shouldn't show the same as #0100.. it seems more likely that it's between #0500 and the first paper labels (April 81). I can't find the decoder for JRC4558 date codes, but that usually places pedal production within a few months.
Hey, if you want to get rid of that T-wah....

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen any pedals with 10300, 10400 or 10500. All 5 digit pedals seem to be 10000, 10100 or 10200. Maybe some pedal's version numbers went 9900 10000, 10100, 10200, 0300, 0400, 0500?
I got a 10000 GE-6 and a 10100 CS-1. I'll see if I can pull out some component codes and compare them to other pedals from the same period. |

It's nerdy reasons like this that I like collecting. damn.
Thanks for looking into it, bossarea.
We need to find an old Roland employee who can give us the rundown of how things went in the late 70s and early 80s. |

I keep hoping that a retired Japanese design engineer will one day register on the forum and tell us the answer to all the questions we have. Probably wishful thinking |
