| Hello there! As some of you know, I'm a bit of a pedal-holic... I already have the OD-3 and SD-1 in the overdrive department and a DS-1 (modded) on the distortion department... but an extra dirt pedal is always very handy... Would you recommend it as an all-around good distortion/overdrive pedal? I play some latin rock, 80's rock-pop, Van Halen, Rolling Stones, U2, etc etc... I'm not very fond of the classic blues guitar sound, but I've heard that the BD-2 is very versatile, it can sound like Eric Johnson or Satriani depending in how you use it and combine it... Is it worth getting? |

The OD-3 is by far, one of the best pedals Boss has ever made IMFO. But I needed just a little more grit & the BD-2 fills the slot exceptionally well! If you crank the gain down of course, its a decent boost. Its almost but not quite as expressive as the OD-3. So if you need a bit more than the OD-3 can give you, the BD-2 is a fine choice. |

Of course you need a BD-2, everybody does And DeFrag is right, its a good complement to OD-3. I like its transparency and the dynamic sensivity a lot, this is my favourite Boss OD. You can almost get a fuzz sound out of it on near max settings.

| I have had and sold many Boss dirt pedals. BD-2 is one of the few that I kept. It would probably work well for Stones stuff. |

I'm loving it!!
I just installed it in my pedalboard, and put the SD-1 in storage... It's such a great pedal by itself! And it's good combined too! I like it after my DS-1 for solo boost, and it sounds good too when I use the BD-2 as my "rythm" sound, using the DS-1 as a gain boost.
By the way, my chain goes DS-1--> BD-2 --> DD-7.
I paid $ 40 for it, and it was mint!! no box or manual, but it's like new! |

Hi midibuddy & Guys
So transparent, so usable. Takes nothing away from your guitar - under 12o'Clk on the Drive. +1 for me on all the positive comments posted already.

i'm thinking of retiring my od-1. so what will remain will be hm-2, and ds-1. what is the most versatile od between the bd-2 and the sd-1? the od-3 is out of my budget right now.

The OD-3 is an excellent overdrive and I think it's even cheaper than the BD-2... correct me if I'm wrong but a brand-new OD-3 usually goes for around $ 85 and a brand new BD-2 for $ 90 I think... That being said, I think the BD-2 is much more versatile than the SD-1... the SD-1 has a very pronounced high mid boost (very useful for solos) but not so useful for rythms specially in combination of other dirt pedals (in my humble opinion). The OD-3 doesn't clean up so well than the BD-2, but it's smoother, the BD-2 is crunchier you might say.
Between the SD1 and BD2 for versatility I'd pick the BD2... Between the OD3 and BD2... it's a though choice...
hope this helps! |

both th od-3 and the bd-2 are $89 at MF, sd-1 is $49; here in the Phils, the od-3 is P5990, the bd-2 is P5000, sd-1 is 4500. sadly my budget is only 5000 so the od-3 is out of running as of the moment. thanks.

i am an overdrive freak and LOVE the BD-2 although the OD-1 wins first place in my books. i love what OD does to single coils. just thinking about it makes me wanna plug in and shred it up! |

| U2 sounds come just perfectly out of this pedal... I read somewhere that it worked much better with humbuckers than with single coils... but I've already tested it with both types, and it sounds wonderful... of course it sounds brighter with singles, and you have to tweak the amp a bit to compensate, but it sounds great with both kinds... Any useful combination with this pedal? Favourite settings? What do you use it for? I like it very much, it was a nice surprise! |

| The BD-2 with the Analogman mod is the best pedal in my board. I actually use two of these -- one for a clean pre-amp and the other for crunch. Must be used with a tube amp though as this is not a great pedal for solid state. |

| Didn't know about that... maybe that's why "Pride" sounds so similar with my setup... |
