Im not sure if this have been on the forum before, but its a good one anyway; The sale/trade of a Boss compact that you regret the most!
For myself it must be one of the first versions, maybe the first as I didnt know anything about 14 or 8-pins those days, of OD-1. I bought it new circa 1978 and traded it for a SD-1 some years later, SD-1 I traded for something else etc etc.

Selling my OD-1 around 1982 to finance a new amp has always bothered me. It had a black screw so it wasn't a rare version but it was my first Boss pedal and I always regretted selling it. |

Lucky for me I haven't been able to give up any of my Boss pedals, I've sold away many DOD and Dano pedals, but have yet to regret that.
Actually I take that back, I traded an extra MT-2 and a CS-3 toward an SG-1, and a I kinda wish I still had the CS-3 to mod. |

Yeah, I am the same way, with the exception of a DS-1 back in the early 90's, which was an MIJ DS-1 if I recall correctly. I let the bassist I was playing with at the time borrow it, then I forgot about it. A year or so later, I ran into him and asked him about getting it back, and he said it broke so he threw it out. I later came to find out he had some drug problems, so it was probably traded for a fix. Gotten rid of most of the DOD pedals I owned, except for 2, and an Arion chorus. |

i pretty much bought my first electric guitar in 1984, and I had gone through a few nice boss pedals at the time, a brand new DD-2, a barely used CE-2 (near minty), a nice GE7 (mint)(these 2 were blackbacks of course!). Boss pedals like this were only $40-$50 at the time, but were big money new, the DD-2 new was about $250 street, even $295 or $325 sticker! nuts! I used the DD-2 and CE-2 quite a bit and made a small custom pedal board to hold the pedals and a tu12, very compact, it fit instide the back of my Montreux combo at the time.
I had a buddy who always traded gear, he had two DM-2s, a bunch of tube screamers, CS-1s, he's kicking himself now; he just couldn't hang on to a pedal for more than 6 months because was always experimenting for better tone; I remember about 10 years ago, he was saying they just weren't making boss pedals like the used to - don't know if that was just sentiment, but he was in a major rack gear phase at that time. Yup he's hurtin on the backside! |

Regret selling my first CE-2, bought new in 1982. I can't even remember now when I sold it exactly. But I got a second-hand one about eight years after that which I still have, also MIJ, so no worries really.

Easy.
I sold a VB-2 in absolute mint condition w/box (no manual). Bought it from a music store, veeery cheap, and sold it at a veeeery good price (for me that is, got good money for it). But still. I should have kept it. Knew it then, know it now, but it was just a little too expensive to keep at the time. And i bought some cool stuff (pedals, of course) for some of the money... |

| Over twenty five years ago, I briefly owned a GE-6. I made about five bucks from selling it and have been happy with a replacement which I did not bother to obtain until about 6 years ago (diff brand). At this point, I need another EQ for a loop, that pedal would be handy. |

I'm lucky because I've always been a pack rat. I still own the SG-1 and SP-1 that I bought brand new in the eighties. Ditto for used OD-1, VB-2 and 3 DM-2's. I could probably buy a new car if I sold all of these. I did have a Distortion Feedbacker that got stolen though. I wish I could have caught that thief. |

hmm...jus a thought peeps, does that mean its better that we now 'try'not to sell any vintage or rarer pedals now,who knows how much they wil value in the future? im having like a good number of these pedals that i dont really use, sometimes jus thought of selling them, but then again... |

I've bought, traded and sold a lot of Boss pedals over the last few years, as some of you already know, but I don't think I really have any regrets about letting go any of them.
One thing I do regret is not taking better care of some of the pedals I did have in the beginning of my collecting days. I didn't realize that they would be worth anything, of course, and they all got tossed into a "gear bag" without any regard for their cosmetic appearance.
Having learned from that, I've recently been trying to "upgrade" my collection of Boss pedals, trying to find nice looking examples or finding them with box, etc. |

Reviving an old thread!! Anyhow, a while ago I sold off my DD-2(that I bought way back in '84)to fund some other gear purchases- it was in excellent condition w/ box, papers and all that. So of course I began regretting it (after trying a few newer digital delays which didn't cut it sonically) and thinking that I would never find one as nice as mine for a reasonable price. Few months later I see one pop up for trade (on another forum)so I jump on it and now I have one again- and dare I say in better condition than my old one, practically brand new. No box or papers, but I don't care- just thrilled to have the DD-2 back Oh and what did I trade for it you ask? DD20 |
