Thanks much for the response. I've only seen a Harmonizer in person second hand at a music store many years ago; the salesperson suggested that it didn't track with guitars too well. But some research indicates that Jimmy Page used one in the late '70s (I think that he used it during his guitar solo), and Rush had one as part of their sound system around the same time -- the sound guy would punch it in during the guitar solos in spots, and they'd ocasionally use it to jokingly add a "chipmunk" effect to Geddy Lee's vocals (if you can believe such a thing to have ever been possible ).
If it were me, I'd probably first try to put in in a "drier" part of the signal chain, if I were using it to add a second guitar voice. Mabye if it were being used for delay you'd put it elsewhere.
A while back I used to have the pitch shifter / delay pedal, the first one Boss came out with, but I don't remember having much luck getting it to work correctly. I wasn't able to try it out at the time, but I wondered that perhaps the best way to use it for harmonizing would have been to use two separate amps for the dry and the pitch shifted signals. (?)
C.K.
