Does anyone have a good suggested setting for a DD3 to get a rock-a-billy effect?

Welcome to Bossarea boman55!

I'd think a pretty short delay like a slapback echo would do the trick.

Here's the setting on my DD-3, but keep in mind mine has been modded by Robert Keeley:

Left to right;
E Level at 12 o'clock
Feedback at about 1130
Delay time at about 230(I estimate this to be at about 125-130ms)
Mode knob set on Medium(200ms)

This makes for a good slap for me. Then I can switch over to the Long mode for slower more "atmospheric" songs.
Again, mine is Keeley-modded for analog warmth so settings on a regular DD will probably vary. The important trick IMO to get a rockabilly slapback from a DD-3 is setting the mode on Medium(200ms), then setting the delay time knob at about 230. This gives you between 125-130 or so milliseconds...sorry I'm repeating myself here...then adjust the effect level and feedback knobs to taste.

Cheers

i just got rid of my dd-3 but i had 2 settings i used for that...

one of them was based on the 200ms setting and the other on the 800ms setting (and used in a way it wasn't supposed to be).

i don't have the pedal anymore but i can try to remember by looking at a picture of one and will try to post the settings as best i can remember.

I set my DD3 for slapback as follows.......

Delay time(in the 200ms mode) at 2 0'clock

feedback at zero (off)

effect level at 11 0'clock...

i find this works best for me for rock n roll/country type things.....
