So, last week I swapped a BD-2 for a slightly beaten up PN-2 with my brother in-law.
Anyway, the rate knob doesn't work (i knew this when i made the swap) and I was wondering if anyone knows the value and type of pot that's used so I can try a replacement?
I think its 1meg but im not sure if its Lin or Log.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You can check this out easily if you have a multimeter. (like this one, for example : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimeter)
To check out the value, mesure the resistance between outer two contacts.
To check wheter it's log or linear, conect the multimeter to the center and one of the other two contacts. Then turn the pot halfway. If the resistance is half of the full value (1meg -> 500k) the pot is linear, else it's log.
To do these measurments, you'll need to disconnect the pot.
Or you can check PN-2 service notes/manual/schematics.
I think freeinfosociety.com has some of those.
There, hope that helps. |

Good advice eeone! I would have just looked for a "A" or "L" stamp on the pot, but I know Boss has really tiny pots and you can't always see it. |

Hi,
I scoured the net for a while but couldn't find a schematic or any service notes on the PN-2 either Dr. Bob.
I had a look on the pot to see if there were any markings but there weren't. So I bought and tested a logarithmic and a linear and it turned out to be a log pot, which when looking back seemed the obvious choice.
Anyway, everything is working like it should now.
Thank you all for your help. |
