How has the SD-1 evolved since the MIJ days? An on-line buddy is selling an early MIT SD-1, which he says has the MIJ amenities, like the ACA power adapter and JRC chip.
I thought all SD-1's had the JRC4558D? Or has it changed since the MIJ-MIT transition?
The reason I ask is, he wants a bit more than what a new SD-1 goes for, and I'm wondering if it's worth it?
I can't hear a difference between old MIJ SD-1 and my fairly new MIT SD-1. All SD-1s are using the 4558D or DD opamps which are practically indistinguishable. If he wants more than what a new one costs, forget it. Pick up a new one or find one at half price on Ebay.
With all due respect to our distinguished forum admin I can hear a BIG difference between my old MIJ SD-1 and the new SD-1's. The new ones seem too trebly to me. The MIJ SD-1 is smoother sounding and has more sustain. Of course this is just my opinion.
