It looks like someone's swapped the black screw with a silver one. Shouldn't silver screw DS-1's also have a long dash? This one's got a short dash. Maybe why it went quite cheap. |

Definitely not an original SS on that one..
but the price of the pedal in the topic.. wow. makes me glad to have a few.

I just looked at the bid history for this long-dash DS-1 and one guy (Bidder #4) bid against himself from 17 to 50 pounds (where's the damn pound symbol?).. and that's not just proxy maximum bidding, they're actual placed bids. Makes no sense to me unless he's trying to drive up the price.. weird. I won't speculate further in a public forum. |

It doesn't have to be just for driving up the price, last month i had a Hondo guitar up on Ebay and someone was so desperate to get it he placed bids about twelve times in 5 euro steps until he gave up, the winner put up the winning bid on the second day of the auction (just like on this one) and he was outbid every time he tried. |

I'm asking the same thing, but if the black screw was swapped, the label was swapped too cause it's a silver screw version ("use a coin to open ...")
I know this cause it's mine since today |

| I think there are black screws made with a silver screw label. Boss had many when they started the black screw production and they wanted to get wrid of them. (if I'm wrong, please correct me) |

| I believe that's right.. there were excess "use a coin" labels which may have made it onto pedals with the short-dash, which was a detail changed pretty early after the black-screw introduction. (timeframe for the end of the long-dash.. anyone?) |

Very interesting.
I have a CE-2 with a short dash and a black screw with a label that says, "Use coin to open battery compartment"
The serial number dates it to Feb 1982. |
