Hi bossarea.

Just two questions/suggestions (if they're possible)...

Is there anyway to configure the forum so that members can choose their local time zone - so that the times of the posts are displayed in their own local times?

I think it would make it easier to work out which topics have been updated. No big deal if not, just thought I'd mention it.

Another quickie (which probably relates to the first)... is there a way to "watch" a particular topic(s) so that you get some sort of notification when a topic has been updated? Or is that what the different coloured folders represent? Excuse my ignorance if this is so!

Cheers!

I actually thought everyone saw the time in their own timezone but now that I've gone through the settings I can see that it isn't so. It's not a functionality that's built into the forum but I'll have a look for a mod.

The different colours do represent updated topics. It doesn't always work properly though. Sometimes all topics are marked as updated although this is not the case. The forum has built in mail notifications for topics but the ISP has configured the server in a way so it can't be used

Hi Stratman, Bossarea & Guys
Here is what I do, to see all the new stuff on the forum.

First of all you have to be, logged into the forum, then.
Top RIGHT of every forum window, you will see the following menu options:

Home|Profile|Register|Active Topics|Members|Search|FAQ|

Just click on the Active Topics menu, & you should see all the new threads & topic, that have changed since you last logged on, or since you last click on the Active Topics menu.

It's an easy & great way to see the forum topics updating, every time you click on it.

Hope this helps you Stratman & others.

Regards Dr. Bob

Hi Bossarea & Guys.

Thanks Bossarea, you make me feel humble ...
Anytime I can help, I'll try.

As I said, that's how I get around the forum & threads, so fast.

I will, occasionally use the Members & Search Menus as well.

The only two drawbacks, that I have found using this method, is that if accidentally double click on the Active Topics menu, you may not get any new active topics,
as you just went through 2 different times (on the server clock) & all the topics that you would have seen on the first click, are now old topics, on the new-second click.

The other drawback, is that it makes you less likely to troll, through the older stuff, in the threads & there's lots of great stuff in the older threads.

Regards Dr. Bob

Thanks bossarea. Put it on your list of things to do, eh? Man, you must have a big list! I don't know how you get the time to do many of the things you do do. But I appreciate you considering it.

Thanks for the advice Dr Bob! I actually clicked this link myself when trying to access the F.A.Q. (which isn't working at the moment, by the way...) Looks good!

However, you raised an excellent point about missing out on other threads too. I'll have to be wary of that, but will give it a go. Although I could never keep up with you - you're a machine!!!

Thanks guys.

Doh, can't believe no one has mentioned that before. It must have been like that since I last added smileys.
