Hi kawayan_strat

Why & what would you want to mod an SD-2 for?
The SD-2 is such a great pedal.

Plus here is Au.(Oz) they are getting harder & harder to find.

Sorry if it's not the answer you were looking for.

Regards Dr. Bob

You could simply try out different clipping diodes like 1N4148, 1N4001, geraniums, LEDs, or some in series like 2 1N4148s, or any combos of the above. That would give your pedal a different sound, plus if you don't like it, its easy to reverse. Could always get a second to keep stock and go mod happy on the worst of the two. My mit sd1 went that way, and have a mij for stock

The gain on my SD2 is ok. It's the tone control i want modded. I want it to be more responsive, esp in the crunch channel.

Hi kawayan_strat[

Ok, Point taken, but have you tried it with different pickups-guitars ... singles-humbuckers?

I found that it sounded really weak on a friends Solis state amp, & it was a good brand named one.

The amp cam make a big difference to the tone.
It also depends on what style of music you're playing into it, it's not a heavy metal or grunge pedal, it excels at good old rock & blues.

Maybe try using a GE-7 or other graphic EQ before or after it.
What range of frequencies, does the tone seem to lacking or less responsive?

Hi DR.Bob,

I'm kinda refraining from using any EQ's at the moment . But i'm looking into getting one of those rare PQ-4s. I have a friend who's selling his for a good price.

Regards,
