Today I bought a very very interesting book by Dave Hunter called guitar effects pedals: the practical handbook. It has lots of information about loads of pedals, from circuits to sound samples on a cd. I really recommend it!

I have also heard good things about his tube amp book, but haven't gotten around to getting that yet. Santa, if you're listening...

That book has been on my to-buy list for a long time now. I think I want this one too: http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Reinforcement-Handbook-Gary-Davis/dp/0881889008

It is funny, but I have those two books, as well. Before I spent serious money on my tube amps, I learned a lot from reading his book and knew which type(s) of tube amps I was looking for and what things to keep in mind, when buying one.

I never knew much about effects, but started buying Boss pedals, anyway. So his effects book was very informative, after the fact so to speak. It provides many insights into how the various effects work without getting one bogged down in pages after pages of techno babble (That always annoyed me, when watching Star Trek...). It also reassured me that, apart from some very rare exceptions, I am covered on all bases effects-wise with my Boss pedals.

Two good books that introduce you to two major aspects of your rig. Great stuff!

Cheers!

Are you sure you are thinking of the same book? the first edition of this one was 2004 so it's pretty up to date.
