I can only afford to keep one, i pretty much like each for diffrent reasons, the pluses of one are the negitives of the other if you get my drift.
I want one to be the backup for my CE-2, whitch i will never get rid of as its the best chorus i have and will ever heave i feel.
I feel that i could keep my CH-1 as it has the dial in and play appeal and i feel is warmer, but the sheer ammount of sounds the CE-5 can have is is a massive thing for me.
I dont find the CH-1 anemic like others do, but i find the CE-5 rather thin in way. Both are modren versions with the CE-5 being made in December 07 and the CH-1 being made in April 07.
What one should i keep??? CE-5 or CH-1??? |

| I tried both & bought the CE-5 for its versatility, 2-band filter EQ, & just sounded more prominent when I needed it to as opposed to the subtlety of the CH-1. |

Reading your post if looks like to me that your already leaning in the direction of the CH-1 but it really depends what you want from chorus pedal,i have the older analog CH-1 and i found it not too good in mono to be honest, much better in stereo..... i suppose for a back up to a CE-2 the CE-5 can probably be dialed in nearer than a CH-1 as it's from the same 'family'..i had a CE-2 going into a CH-1 and out in stereo for a few weeks over christmas on my board..massive sound but in the end i realised the CE-2 was more than enough for me..i'm going to use one of my DD-3's at the end to split to the two amps..... you could always sell the two of them and get another CE-2..... .... |

I am leaning towards the CH-1 yes, but the thing is true i can get the CE-5 dialed in closer to the CE-2.
The only thing about the CE-5 i like is the sheer versitility, but the fact it sounds a little thin toward the top end, the CH-1 sounds good all thru the frequency ranges.
I think its coming down to another play test thru another amp, or my Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 in another room. And im not short of quality guitars either, both my Fender Highway 1 Strat that is loaded with Bare Knuckle Pickups Miracle Man/Irish Tour/Cold Sweat and my ESP LTD EC-1000 that has a BKP Painkiller and a Gibson Type 2 Burstbucker at the neck cannot tell the CE-5 and CH-1 appart.
I may need to try them thru another amp to decide for shure. |

Well after getting my Mesa F30 head today, i can tell you that i have decided to put my CH-1 in the next "to trade" pile of pedals, the CE-5 is what i like in the FX Loop of a amp.
My CE-1 will eventually make its way to the Loop of the F30, but not yet. |
