I've got a question and i hope that some of the "experts" out there can help me.. I've a 1986 MIJ CS-3 which i bought from Ebay... i was just wondering if there's any difference between the MIJ and the newer MITs... afterall we've been hearing that the MIJ DS-1s and SD-1s or any MIJ pedals sound better than the Taiwan-made ones.. your reply will be much appreciated.. cheers...
I had one MIJ CS-3 before, and it was powered by an ACA adaptor. Now I have a MIT CS-3, which uses the PSA adaptor. When I did a comparison of the two, the older MIJ seemed to have more background noise, but produced just the same effect sound. So I kept the newer and quieter MIT model.
I'm not aware of any changes between MIJ and MIT CS-3s. The CS-3 has however been made for 20 years now so it wouldn't surpise me if something has changed. It is not the pedal that people mention when they talk about how much better the old days was so I suspect it is pretty much as it used to be.
You're right about the value estimate. The Japan version will demand a few more bucks than the Taiwan.
I have all three models too. I like them all and they actually all do sound different from one another. But if I could only have one it would be the MIT CS-3...
i've run both pedals too. methinks the CS-3 MIJ is a bit noisy underneath if sustain too loud; otherwise shhhhhhhhhhhshhhhh underneath won't bother you at all. It can be dialed out with sustain or level knob.
