Hello my blessed friends! Two people here in Rio de Janeiro said that GE-7 is a tone sucker. What are your opinions about that? |

| There are some bad op-amps in that pedal which are making a lot of noise. But if you change them with better ones the GE-7 is at least as good as any other Boss pedal. |

| in my experience the MIJ models actually seem to be more noisy than the newer MIT's. it just seemed harder to get the settings i wanted with the MIJ. |

Yes, I can vouch for that! The MIJ GE-7 is definitely more noisy than the MIT! But as far as tone sucking, when bypassed they seem to be the same and they both do suck a little more than, say, a DS-1 or BD-2, but not as badly as a TU-2. |

Yes, it´s true, but I try to set the GE-7 to try to get closer to my DS-1. In my case I use GE- 7 as a booster. It seems that Boss doesn´t have any Booster pedal, am I right? |

well they dont have a booster pedal per se, but they have a lot of pedals that are sort of half meant for boosting. the GE-7 was definately meant for boosting due to the +/- 15 db. using overdrives to boost is also quite common. my favorite for boosting is the SD-1 |

Yep. I tried to put DS-1 before OD-1 for boosting, but it didnt sound very well. So, I put DS-1 after OD-1 and got a wonderful color. But I really need a good booster. |

| Is the TU-2 really that bad? I have one on my chain and starting to worry... plus it'd be difficult to remove from the board since it powers up all my pedals and also serves me as a "mute" switch... Would you strongly recommend on getting it out of my signal chain? |

| midibuddy, i was thinking the same thing. but i think this is too important for me to take out. theres 24 pedals in my setup and i dont play loud anyway. i dont notice a signifigant tone loss |

midibuddy was it a problem before? I find that what ever pedals I use in my chain and in whatever order isnt a problem, I just tweak amps and pedals until I get what I am looking for, by tweaking I also mean in what order I put my effects too. An option if you are real worried about the tuner is to leave it unplugged maybe and use it for just a power supply and plug in when you need to tune up???? But really, just tweak away and you will find it I am running Guitar>TU2>FT2>PH2>KFK 10 Band EQ split into a DM2 and a DM3 into 2 marshall stacks, and I am happy with my Tone, I also run either a micro rack eq in the loop of the amps or a GE6 or 7 with great success also!!! Goodluck, and remeber there is no right or wrong way to setup your pedals (or amps) just a way that you like, experiment and have fun with it |

Hi guys,
I have a GE-7 (Japan) and my setup is as follow:
Epiphone SG400 >>> BOSS NS-2 (in-send) >>> DOD Milkbox Compressor FX-84 >>> DOD Flashback Fuzz FX-66 >>> EH Big Muff >>> BOSS GE-7 (Japan) >>> BOSS NS-2 (return-out) >>> BOSS CH-1 >>> BOSS DD-6 >>> BOSS RV-5 >>> 30W Peavey Amp
Didn't really face any noise problem with my GE-7. In fact, I leave it on all the time while I play because I needed it to boost my mid-range for lead.
It's important to note that the sliders for each band are not supposed to be pushed to the max because you may get unwanted sound. If I want better mid-range, I will try to certain bands. My config is like a 'W' shape.
Hope my comments help.
regards, jtangsw

Well midibuddy, in my case my pedals sound WAY BETTER without the TU-2 and I only have 5 pedals(I used to have 6 with the TU 2). GE-7 is a great pedal but its a kind of tune sucker. I used it as a booster. |

what does everyone else have on their GE-7? |

on my rhythym line i have my GE-6 set up like a V type thing for scooped sounds, and the lowest point of the V sits on 0db. it sounds absolutely killer with the MT-2, and the sound honestly cant be reached with a GE-7. ive spent a looong time trying.
on my lead line i have my GE-7 exactly opposite. an upside down V to bring out my mids. the bass is set slightly higher than my treble. the lowest point of my treble sits on 0db |
