I guess they are trying to avoid having to deal with the possibility of fraud... You know, someone steals your eBay & PayPal password then buys a whole bunch of stuff and has it sent to an address where they can claim it (not yours)...
I used to work in an electronics shop in London driving deliveries (expensive Plasmas etc), it was quite amusing to see how often some peanut with a stolen Credit Card would try to get you to deliver to a random front porch, from where, I assume their plan was, to load the item in a car and dissapear...
Slightly off topic but: Why is there so much variation in postage from the US? It seems to vary from US$10 to US$40 to Australia for a Boss sized pedal, and that's just normal mail not express or whatever it's called by USPS. |

Some people do this for a living and count the time and materials used for packing and going to the mailstation, some people try to rip you off because there are dumb suckers enough around that will pay any amount you ask or just haven't read the auction very well. Some people just don't know the rates and fill in something stupid just to be covered.
Shipping rates can be very variable, for example: I can ship to UK for 5,90, 6,16, 11,55 and 13,10 (all with TNT post) it has to do with priority and insurance. |
