I'd like to trade a DS-1 (MIJ August 1983) for a MIT DS-1 with the BA728N opamp.

Actually I never saw your first reply. I better get my eyes checked.

No, I'm not interested in selling it. Not yet anyway. If it proves impossible to find the MIT version I'm looking for I might be tempted later.

I have one but not sure how feasable a trade is with shipping from the US/UK and all? Also, the bottom plate would not be original(see previous post on ebay ripoff[DS-1 MIJ Label] - bought under the guise of it being MIJ), it would probably be a plate from an extra MIT DS-2 I have.

No worries

Get back to me if you decide otherwise.

Is there any way to distinguish one with the BA728N opamp aside from opening up the pedal? Serial number range, etc.?

I haven't figured out a way yet. They probably all got silver label Taiwan labels but I don't know the serial number range. I've been tempted to pick up one from every year in the 90s just to examine them and sell them off again.

Wow! I guess I've got a bit of a project for myslef this weekend then. Almost all of my silver label MIT DS-1s are modified in some way though. I think I have one or two in stock form that I can check though.

BossArea:

I have one with the BA728N Op Amp and got this information using the serial decoder:

Your Boss unit with serial number TM56874 was produced August 1999, and is unit number 206874.

The cosmetic condition is fairly similar to the MIJ model you have posted the photos of. Let me know if you're interested.

I'm interested but postage to the US with be about the same as buying one from Ebay so I'll think I'll pass.
I'm surpised they used it as recently as 1999 but that makes it easier to get hold of one. Thanks for the info.

That's a shame. I don't think I have any plans for being in the UK any time soon either, unless something should happen to come up on really short notice, which is unlikely. Maybe if you still haven't found one the next time I'm headed over, we can still make the trade.
