Hi all
how hard would it be to move the direct out over to the output side ona DD-3...? the planet wave jack plugs aren't the easiest get around to plug things into, and i want to use the DD-3 to feed two amps..basically i want the two outputs the same as a CH-1 etc.. could i just disconnect it and rewire it over and drill a new hole in the side of the case on the pedal..... |

Yeah - I it's only a two wire connection to the direct out. As long as there is clearance for the jack on the other side, it will move no problem.

| not really hard all all . just need to remove the board so you don't drill inside the pedal. but just 2 wires. |

Ok finally got around to doing this thing.....good news is that the wires look long enough to move without surgery...just drill a hole in the other side of the pedal..bad news is the input and direct out are in a little recess in the pedals body cavity but i think i might be able to squeeze it below the circuit board on the other side....of course the battery and the spare on the cordless drill are dead. so i have to wait for them to recharge.. may as well have a glass of red while i'm waiting...oh the hardship..... .....
Q/.. there is a little aluminium shield between the direct out and the input..i'm assuming this is to stop some interference or noise in the pedal from guitar leads..so i should move this over to the output side or is only because it was beside the incoming signal.....??
Don't worry Dr Bob taking some pics for you............ |

Sounds about right to me, that metal shield would be there to isolate the input signals from the output signals.
With your mod, & putting the two outs on the same side, you mostly likely will not need this or a similar shield. I would still leave the original shield in place, to stop any stray signals getting into the inputs.
What are you going to do with the spare hole you have created?
Perhaps put a plastic blanking plug into it, but A better idea would be to see if you can find an old plastic socket & put it in the hole. it would look more functional.
Else cover the hole from the inside with aluminum plumbers tape, I'm sure you know or have that, seeing you are also a fully qualified plumber.
Looking forward to seeing your mod pics Franzoni.

The inside before i did anything....

Marked the hole on the other side....

New hole drilled.......

No i haven't started smoking crack... i put some tinfoil between the outputs as a shield because there was one on the input/direct out side of the pedal.....i wrapped it around the wet output because it's recessed just in case it touched off anything on the circuit board it shouldn't......

Finished...took about 20mins to do..i probably could of moved the wet out and drilled a hole beside it and put the two of them beside each other up near the control knobs(there is a little recess there as well) but it might of beeen a bit of a squeeze..i staggered it with the wet output just under the circuit board...i will go to the auto factors tomorrow, they sell little rubber plugs in case you remove a spoiler off you car to plug the hole so it should do nicely to blank off the old hole for the direct out.....
