hi all, first off i did try a search but i didn't come up with anything. if any of you know or have experience with this pedal, comments would be greatly appreciated!

i've had the fdr-1 for a little over a month and it took me a long time to find a setting that i liked, but i've noticed something strangely odd about this pedal. it's the reverb on it - the spring reverb emulation to be exact. right away from when i got it and tried it out at home, i noticed certain random plops when using the reverb at anything past 9am. the occurence of these plops just increases as you turn it up higher. naturally i was wondering what the heck is up with this pedal, then i did some researching and virtually all the users over at harmony central and other places have noticed the same thing.

i've read comments from other users where they stated maybe boss emulated the spring reverb so well that these plops are meant to copy the sound of springs actually being put to use. some don't mind it, but most don't like it - myself included.

my question is this, is this maybe a defect or ploy from boss in any way? i've seen all the demo videos from the us and japan site a few times over, and i can swear that each of those videos do not ring out the plops from the reverb when it's being used. is this a great inconsistency or ploy that the official demo videos do not sound out the reverb plops when many have noticed this?

This thread may shed some light on the subject:

I think its classic Boss reusing what they consider to be tried & true emulations..

still seems very odd to me that after extensive listening to the "official" demo videos, absolutely NONE of the plops come out when boss employees use it at even higher reverb settings for the fdr-1. i'm aware that they probably emulated the spring reverb too well, but its just fishy that there's no hint of it on their sites.

not a bad idea putting the rv-5 in the fx loop, i'd do the same with my fdr-1 except for two things: my ad15vt doesn't have an fx loop, and most importantly the fdr-1 is an overdrive which shouldn't be in the fx loop in the first place.

I'm not able to hear any plop sounds from mine. Maybe it's just because my ears are crap.
When the UK mag Guitar Buyer tested the FDR-1 last month they pulled down the score because of its reverb so you're probably not alone to hear it.
