I've finalized my main setup & updated the photo to include the Egnater & ME-70. It takes advantage of the Rick-O-Sound where each pickup routes to different amps & the stereo outputs of the ME-70. (Of course I'm waiting for the new FRV-1.)

Here's the configuration:

Basically, both guitars run through the Peterson strobe tuner. The Schecter runs wirelessly & can route to my Mesa Roadster or through the Moogerfooger pedals & on to the Rebel 20 & the Mesa 2x12 cab.
The Ric 360MG is split with an insert-cable for full stereo output where the bridge pickup (bright tone) goes through the Roadster or Moogers & Rebel (darker amps) to balance the tone, while the neck pickup (muted tone) shoots through the Boss ME-70 where it further splits via the Radial Engineering to either the Orange Tiny Terror or the Blackheart Little Giant (brighter amps).
Lastly, I can route the Ric's neck pickup & take advantage of the stereo outputs of the ME-70 to feed the Rebel & the Orange|Blackheart.
The keystone of my sound is realized by the Radial Engineering VT head switcher:
1. Keep the Rebel clean (L) & run the Blackheart clean (R) 2. Run the Rebel clean (L) with the dirty Orange (R) 3. Rebel dirty (L) & the Blackheart clean (R) 4. Rebel dirty (L) with the dirty Orange (R)
The Blackheart's (open-backed) speaker & Orange (closed-backed) cab are wired together at all times no matter which "head" is selected. This provides a 2x 1x12... open, airy, yet punchy sound which is just phenomenal... the best of both worlds if you will.
The setup is extremely versatile. The configuration has been in minor flux, especially every time I added another peice of gear, but I've finally implemented the Rick-O-Sound capabilities & taken advantage of the stereo output of the ME-70. It looks complicated but really, its not. Just trace a couple paths & you'll see what I mean. I only have to punch a couple Lehle switches & only have to remember which pickup goes where. Usually, I play the Rickenbacker & only switch from having the stereo Ric to stereo ME-70. I can't run the Schecter to the Class-As (Orange or Blackheart) but the humbuckers sound better through the Mesa or Rebel anyway. I can always plug the Schecter straight in as necessary.
Anyway, I thought some of you might enjoy seeing what can be done by incorporating a few A/B switches into your kit. I used to get my sounds through a lot of effect pedals. These days, effects are run much more subtly & I rely on getting my sound through different flavors & combinations of amplifiers instead... more pristine tone as compared to a buttload of effectors. Most folks like to run a bit of chorus, delay, or reverb to "open up" a dry guitar sound. Sit back & think what you can do & try out a stereo configuration & even just running two amps simultaneously.. one with effects & the other one dry, or a different set of effects. Its the next step into exploring the sonic possibilities. You don't have to go nuts like I did, but you certainly can expand your sound a bit & who knows, maybe you'll stumble on a new, favorite setup for yourself & fresh creativity!
*Whew* |

Looks really great....but please tell me you have roadies and are plying arenas with this rig or it's a recording / rehearsal only rig.
My back is hurting just thinking of moving that rig for a club gig. |

Hehe, its all in the bedroom.. bolted down to the sub-floor to couple the lower frequencies to the house (j/k).
I grab the Terror &/or Blackheart to practice. I haven't gigged in a couple years.
My agenda here is to spur you guys into making an A/B box work FOR your setup & show you what's possible.
There's no need to turn your rig into the Space Shuttle... just open things up a bit for some versatility between a couple amps or to incorporate stereo in your already existing rig. |

Great point.
Just giving you a hard time as my back is still twinging a bit from lugging my vintage twin (in a flight case) at our gig on Sat.

Do you have any recordings of this setup ? That really would be nice.

I'd probably go crazy with such a rig. That would be far too complicated for me! I just use a wah, a (single channel) tube amp and a lesliecab.
How does that Rick-O-Sound work? Got it |

zestystrat: I think I'll NEVER move my Roadster.
sp-1: Someday I suppose.. if I could play guitar. That's usually Bob's question. I wanted to get a Radial Engineering JDX Reactor Amp DI but maybe with all the amps about, I'll just mic 'em up & record through the mixer.. dunno yet.
Witloofboer: There's something to be said for Guitar -> Amp simplicity & tone to be sure! If I removed all the effects & simply used the Lehle switches to route to different amps, I'd have the same versatility but with unadulterated tone as long as I used short cables.
I've removed the ISP Decimator as I'm not going to be running high-gain, high volumes through the Roadster much anymore & I plan on giving it to my son anyway. I still would like to get an attenuator for it though. I need to see how simple it would be to route the Schecter to the Orange/Blackheart without changing much around as well. I think its great having a choice between 2 different reverbs for the Left & Right sides respectively. |

Why have you got a wireless system if it's in your bedroom? Oh and just how big is your bedroom?

Always wanted a wireless to keep from tripping over cords that always want to coil up & get in your way. Besides, I can crank the amps to run the tubes nice & hot for tone but can walk around my house if I want.
Bedroom is about 20x18' or so with a bay window. |

Sorry a bit OT but i know exactly where zesty is coming from with this.... the best thing we ever did was investing in a band van from day one...that way everyone helps in and out with stuff plus we have one of those trolleys the delivery guys use for boxes which can go either normal or on it's flat with a couple of extra wheels near the handle for piling stuff onto....this might sound a bit nuts but one of the things i find out when people book gig,is if there is any stairs involved and if there is...is there a lift...?.... seriously...any lugging stuff up and down stairs is a little extra these days,to many times lugging a Musicman 130HD 2X12 combo up and down does this to you and even i got caught recently in a gig we did in a nightclub....8 flights of stairs with our rig..... ..."i'm gettin too old for this s**t.."... .. |

*minor edit*
Added a Fulltone TTE (purchase pending) & a Switchcraft mini patch-panel to act as a "stereo" collector. |

Jesus… DeFrag this is something completely different from a pure blues/classic rock setup, a Strat a Super Reverb maybe an overdrive and a cord. Looks great anyway!
