I wonder if any of you are "rhonda5228"? ... cause rhonda5228 just out-bid me on this
I would have gone higher but if the Raytheon chip was toast, it can't be obtained... (a TL074 would work, but that's the end of an "original" pedal).

Hi Laurie
I had GAS pains over this one.
How much did you bid, or miss it by? I read the RacerX was going to bid as well.
What do they normally go for, in that condition, if they are working.
It looks like it has the insulator missing as well, do these have the fabled paper insulator, or one of the plastic types.

Hi Laurie
The Raytheon IC is just a old sh!tty sorry, consumer quality, 741 substitute. If you recall, I wote about an old 1/2 rack graphic EQ, for a home stereo setup, that I had purchased, or bartered for. It has at least 6 of these old op-amps in it, they might not be Raytheon branded but they are 3403's.
This is a good tip to remember when searching for older & obsolete parts. In fact I now recall, it came from a mate that was going to dump it on the industrial trash pickup, that we have about twice a year.

Organs. Organs. Organs.
My better half just can't understand when I " decommission " one of these beasts. Last time I told her it was a conceptual performance piece that juxtaposed the intransigence of modern life with the relics of the past. A roll of her eyes let me know I would be bothered no more.

Hi Racer X
You're giving away all our secrets....
When anyone asks me that sort of question, I tell them, I'm building a woman.
I get pretty much the same response, or something like "Good Luck"

You are lucky all you get is a roll of the eyes... I'd get whacked for that! |

I was the second highest bidded - $213. It looks like i missed it by $3, but there is no way of knowing what the highest bidder's max bid was.
They normally go for about $400 in good nick. With a bid of $213 I figured that with exchange rate, paypal fees, customs etc it would land here (broken) for about CAN$270 which is too much for a broken one. I'd rather wait and pick up a (maybe scruffy) working one for $100 more. As these things aren't actually useful for anything (hence the low production run), I couldnt even justify building a clone - at least the SG-1 clone can be used for something.
No idea about the insulator... I was going to cross the parts bridge when I cam to it |
