I fear my HM-2 may be on the way out, has anyone else had the problem of pedals 'panning in', so when you stomp it it goes silent and gradually raises to full volume again (this process lasts like half a second). And also sometimes it just won't work, if you catch it on a good day it will be fine, but other times it either won't work, or will kill everything else in the chain but itself (including clean tone). Ive had a general peruse around the insides and it all seems to be in order (all connected and all solder is in good shape) but im a total noob when it comes to the technical side. Hope you guys can help as its a mainstay for me and my band, and it was made the day I was born (according to serial decoder). Thanks in advance. |

| Gargh i fear it's getting worse, it takes longer to get up to full volume now (1.5 seconds maybe). Does anyone have the same problem or any information to divulge about the problem? |

Doesn't sound like an easy problem. The pedal is not in a consistant state of failure so it will be difficult to measure where the problem is located.
Does any of the knobs affect the time it takes before full volume is reached? Does the LED come fully on immediately or does it come on gradually? Do you have the schematic and a volt-meter? |

Actually, now it is in a consistent state of failure unfortunately. It used to be 9 times out of 10 it would be fine, but its the same every time now. The LED is fine and unaffected, it's on as bright as always (and like my other boss pedals) and doesn't fade/dime etc. As for the knobs i will have a fiddle tommorow and test to see if any of them do affect it, although today the 'getting up to full volume' time has been less, i usually use it at Level 12, L Colour 3, H Colour 5, Dist 4 but I was using it at 12 across the board, with Dist at 3. As for schematic I don't have one, it is a Taiwanese one however made in 1988, and i don't have a voltmeter however I may be able to 'aquire' one from college. Sorry it's all a little bit vague, I just haven't got a clue about electronics etc. Thanks |
