I've been doing mods on Boss pedals and recently I bought a Joe Satriani "Satchurator" pedal. The first thing that i notice when I disassembled the pedal is it's not true bypass. So I decided to convert this to true by pass. After tracing the pedal, I notice that the distortion circuit is similar to the Boss DS-1 (the switching and pad switch being different). I've checked the schematics of the Boss DS-1 and the Satchurator is labeled the same way as the Boss DS-1 and most of the caps and resistor values are the same!
There are two transistors that look like input/output buffers.
I don't think it is an exact copy of DS-1. The equivalent of the Q2- based amplifier stage seems to be missing.
I might be wrong though. Could you check if the two transistors are connected as emitter followers? There should be a 10k resistor connected to the emitter electrode if that's the case.
this pedal gets mixed reviews around the web , you either love it or you hate it , some guys even said they like there modded DS1 better , this is the problem when buying a signature unit. its not for everybody i guess......
