I don't know who this fellow is, but he seems hellbent on winning alot of eBay auctions for Boss compacts. He can't be a reseller as he's overpaying for most purchases. Hey, I understand collecting, and needing somthing for your collection, but he bought 5 or 6 OD-1's in the last 2 weeks. He also bought sevreral DC-2's and CE-2's. I guess he's trying to have the most toys! I just got an NOS DC-2 w/ all the candy for under $100. he's winning 2 right now for over $210 each (pedal only), also winning a OD-1 in Oz w/ a 4558 for over $300! Someone must have hit the lottery!

Someone with more money than patience. I have been guilty of that once or twice

Me too, Aaron. But I havn't bought 5 of the same thing ever, much less in 2 weeks! Oh, he "won" both DC-2's tonight. $286, and $279. A week ago I couldn't believe they were going for $175. must be inflation!

Hi Guys

Question:
Is he bidding-winning, but is he actually paying for them?
---

I guess we might see if he is going to flip them at some later date for even greater inflated prices.

About 8-10 months ago, we saw a massive increase in the price XT-2's
They went from about $50Au to over $138US all in the space of a week.
then they dropped again.

Someone was asking in PM, if it might be the infamous MR. X
(mentioned in the Boss pedal book) that seemed to have all the SP-1's?

It could be someone setting up a new studio, or a guitar Tech,
for some big name player?

Then again we might never know.

Regards Dr. Bob

Hey Dr. Bob, he's getting positive feedback so I guess he's paying. One of his buys was from Spearabot, a good seller I've dealt with. Hey I said it before it's an open market, if someone wants to pay... Thank God I'm not looking for anything now!

I'm not looking either Pedal Dan.. (except for maybe that Digitech Hardwire Chorus)... The prices are ridiculous though. How can an average Joe compete with someone who just THROWS money like that?

He also won an old dynacomp for 255,- phew..

And another one for 140,-

And he also seems to like buying phase100, microamps and other MXR pedals for way huge prices.

Perhaps he wants to buy out the market so only he will own these type of pedals and will eventualy be able to charge what he likes for them(good luck) or maybe he just got his first advance from a record contract(he will learn) but I do know one thing.

I hope he bids on my auction

The point that's hidden here is... the only way the bids can get this high is if someone is bidding against him.

So therefore we have TWO bidders (or more) going to ridculous lengths - not just gplayer298.

This STINKS to me. It sounds like a couple of people in collusion trying to drive up the prices.

This is a method that some synthesizer sellers use, too! Synths that are worth 500 Euros will artificially be boosted up to more than 1,000 and with a little luck some noobs think that they have to pay those one thousand bucks to get this machine. I hate these methods.

Isn't that a bit risky? I mean, they could lost and have to pay ebay fees... At that amounts it seems too much of a risk IMO.

Ah! That's not the end of this f***ing trick. 10 days after the auction the seller declares that the buyer has not payed. eBay sends a mail to the "buyer" and he accedes to cancel the deal. The seller gets a refund of the eBay fees and puts the item in an auction again.

It's that simple!

And what happens to the "buyer"?

The "buyer" is a fake account in most cases. Mostly two of these are used to raise the price. As long as the "buyer" accounts are not operated with the same IP of the seller's account eBay cannot prove that the seller has something to do with these accounts. The fake accounts may be inaccessible after a few times but then the seller creates a few more accounts. Who wants to prove it?

I've been following gplayer298's auctions for over a month. He's outbid numerous different ebayers. He always pays, and it's from many sellers. Hey he's legit. I'd steer clear of the waters with this shark feeding,as they're much to bloody! If ya got something to sell though...
