| I use Proco RAT2 distortion pedal. Does anyone else use RAT2? I haven't seen anyone using RAT2 whenever I go to NYC local bars to see live bands. I'm just wondering how popular Proco RAT pedals are. I like the pedal because it's pretty versatile. It can produce from a keen distortion to a clean, fat distortin to a fuzzy distortion. I see tons of rats in the subway, but not on stage! |

| I LOVE my Proco pedals(next to Boss of course). All I use is Boss and Proco. I have a vintage Rat and two Turbo Rats, I am going to get a Rat 2 next. If you have never played with a Rat you are missing out. |

I used a RAT 2 for years, early this year I traded it for a DC-3. A good trade for me in many ways but I miss the RAT.. |

| Whenever I try a Rat it sounds very thin and shrill. But than again the only time i get to fool around with one is at shops, and most of them won't let me turn it up to really try it. On a scale of one to ten, how is the sound quality as compared to a DS-1? |

I am awaiting a Vintage RAT Reissue that I won off of ebay but was shipped to the wrong person! I got this other guy's Electro Harmonix Russian Big Muff ( current model ) by mistake. So I've got to ship this one to Canada to him and vise-versa. But anyway, I hear that they sound pretty good and are based off of the old circuit design where some of the others are not. Here's a good link to demystify the different incarnations of RATS: http://happybob.com/rstrand/rat/rat_versions.htm
Does anyone use the Vintage RAT reissue? If so, what do you think?
Also, I would really love to get ahold of one of the original small box RAT's, the one's with no LED. If anyone has a line on one, please let me know. |

I have a Vintage Rat, but I've never used an old original Rat to have anything to make comparisons by. Supposedly the Vintage Rat and Rat 2 are the same circuit as the original Rat, but there can be a substituted opamp which changes the sound of the newer boxes for the worse.
Can anyone confirm any of this? I've seen the "Rat Versions" site in the past. Although it's quite comprehensive, it doesn't seem to be comprehensive enough. I'd love to see photos that detail the slight variations of the versions that look similar and I'd love to hear soundclips for personal comparisons. |

Actually I was thinking to buy one of those, for my distortion needs... What do you think of it? Is it better than the BOSS DS1 ? I already have an OD3 and a SD1 so I need a harder distortion effect...
opinions? |
