i got bit by the mod bug and bought up a ton of mod parts (more than i can probably use this year) and realize that i don't have enough $ left over to buy the pedals to actually mod heh.
i know this will probably provide very little interest to the modding veterans...
but to those wanting to get started, would there be any interest in some inexpensive mod kits?
i did some number crunching the other day and calculated out what a break even price would be on components. while it's definitely unable to meet the prices of parts bought in bulk, it's probably cheaper/competitive/easier than trying to track em down separately in the quantities needed. i know when i tried to buy the stuff for the DS-1 SEM and the SD-1 bleed fix it was a bit overwhelming trying to track down the parts at one place without having a minimum order fee or getting jacked on shipping (had one place charge $8 shipping for 15 caps...).
Basic item price list (based upon what i have on hand): Metal/Poly cap $0.25 Metal/Poly 1uf cap $0.40 Electrolytic cap $0.25 Silver mica cap $0.80 Ceramic cap $0.25 Carbon resistor $0.20 3mm Red LED $0.35 3mm Ultra-bright LED $0.85 J201 Transistor $0.40 Silicon diode $0.30 Germanium diode $0.60 JRC4558D op amp $0.55 Op amp socket $0.50 1' of 24 ga. wire $0.10 (dont laugh, this stuff costs me like $10 for 100) Small piece of PCB (up to ~1 x 1) $0.15
shipping would be like $2.25 in the US (includes price of a new padded envelope).
the kits wouldn't have super in depth instructions (mainly just distributing the parts needed) like teaching how to solder... but they would include which components get swapped etc.
some examples: DS-1 seeing eye mod $4.15 SD-1 to TS808 conversion mod $1.20 SD-1 to Fulldrive II conversion mod $3.45 SD-1 J201 bleed fix $0.95 SD-1 Laurie bleed fix $1.00
if people are interested at all i can post some kits in the buy/sell/trade forum. looking for some feedback on this.
