Hey guys, new member here.

I was looking around for a project pedal, because wiring guitars is easy. So I bought a Boss PH-1 project box from an online classified, I was assuming that it was just the metal box, you know, something to mess with. For $5 It would be stupid to not buy it right?

After I got it I dug around the box of packing peanuts and found this depressing thing.

Sad piece of metal with Sharpie marks everywhere, I did a basic rub down and its nice and beautiful-er. After digging around I found that the seller added this:

All the guts! I found that several wires were clipped (thats when I joined the forum, thinking I would need some kind of schematics), but thanks to Boss's colored wires I just re-soldered them together, and guess what? It works!

Well I guess nothing is perfect, the LED is busted, and I don't have any knobs, but everything else works. So I went to Radio Shack and spent five buck on knobs and an LED.

Now this baby is working!

I never thought Phasers would be so much fun, honestly phasers, flangers, and wah wahs were on the bottom of my pedal want list, but this baby has totally flipped my mind.

Oh, BTW the serial is 7000, so a 78.

for a '78 PH-1 pedal?

Yeah, when I saw the guts I just assumed the seller couldn't revive it so just decided to pawn it off, totally blew me away when it worked

Hi TomCray, I saw your similar post about this over at the TDPRI, as I am a member over there (under the name "bowlfreshener") and was almost going to link it over to here, but I see you found it over here as well. Small world I guess...Welcome to this forum, and I'll see you either here or there I guess

jack, I found this site on accident, and decided might as well post it here too.

Hopefully this place will get me into pedal modding which I am totally looking forward to.

congrats TC. you have my full envy/jealousy :)

people with more disposable income than me have decided to snipe the last 4 auctions for PH-1's and PH-1r's out from under me. i'm itching for one badly hehe.

I came in not knowing much about Boss pedals (only that they're built like tanks), I didn't know that they started production in '77. In a couple of completed auctions on the bay they seem to command a good price.

BTW which is more rare-r, silver screw or black screw? (Mine has a rusty silver screw)

ack. good question.

on most pedals silver is more rare, except the PH-1 was discontinued quite early so there might be fewer of the black screws out there although the silver screw will be more desirable amongst collectors.

if you decide that you still really aren't convinced you need a phaser in your setup and you want to quick dump it for say, a 500% profit without having to go through the headache of ebay, let me know :)
