I have been in contact with Roland Scandinavia regarding RC-2.
It is true that the first batch of RC-2 was distributed worldwide and the interest in this pedal was so big that much of this first batch was/is going to sold out very fast.
This is a problem for the manufacturer as they donīt know this beforehand.

If they've read this forum they would have known

When the AC-3 was released there was one or two threads on the forum about it. When the RC-2 was announced a lot of us entered posts and announced that we wanted one right away.

i got hold of some today so there is two RC-2's in England. And yes they are ace. really useful bit of kit. I guess theres no 'one' way of using it as alot of people would use it in diffrent ways.

I eventually got one today. It's great fun but without the manual I'd be seriously lost.

It seems like that kindof pedal, not a 'plug and play' like a distortion.

I have just tried RC-2 in a music shop in Caen (France) in the afternoon : PERFFECT MACHINE ! It is a little necessary to learn to use it, but when we likened the functioning, it is OK but as I do not feel at ease with samples in general, I won't buy it.

The RC-2 is strange as its the only pedal to my knowledge that utilizes the output jack as the power switch. UNFORTUNATELY, the pedal DOES NOT poweroff when I disconnect the plug from the output jack! So sadly, I leave it powered up via the AC adapter. Why in the hell is it documented that it will poweroff if I unplug from the output jack but in reality, doesn't!?

Another problem IMFO is that since its nestled in my pedalboard pretty tightly, its difficult to pry up so I can unplug the Input jack. Remember, according to the manual it states: "The input to AUX IN is muted whenever a cable is connected to the INPUT jack." This sucks bigtime & makes it extremely inconvenient for me to use the auxiliary input.

I like BOSS but damn! #$^@*(!

The "on" switch being connected to the RC-2s output jack also confused me a little at first since I'm so used to the reverse in all of the other BOSS models! I couldn't figure out why it had been designed that way until I was working on a demo of a new song a couple of weeks ago. I built the entire track from shorts loops which I loaded into the RC-2. Then I unplugged my guitar and plugged the RC-2 directly into my amp. I then "played" the RC-2 over the drum loops on the track--I would trigger a sample at various points in the song by using the one-shot function. That's when the output jack started to make more sense to me...I could power it up and "play" the pedal without having to run any kind of signal into it. Since I pre-load all of my keyboard and guitar loops, I've now started to do this live...the RC-2 runs directly into a small solid state amp (currently the Roland Spirit I mention elsewhere on the forum)...I'm no longer running my guitar into the RC-2 live, so I've started treating the RC-2 almost as a separate instrument or sequencer. So now the output jack is actually working for me, but I had the same confusion early on.
By the way, if you want to hear the demo where I triggered all the samples while overdubbing, you can go to my band's My Space page (listed below) and listen to "Magic Box." The track comes entirely from multitracked samples I loaded into my RC-2 and then overdubbed one at a time (including the lines from Bach's cello suites in the chorus). The only live sounds on the track are my vocals, the percussion, and the acoustic guitars. Even the hi-hat click is the RC-2. It was fun to record...!

Hey shortpunks, nice track! I can't believe how much you can do with the RC-2! I might have to take a closer look at this one.

On another note, do people think its easier to use the RC-2 (with just one pedal) or would a RC-20 (with two pedals) be easier to use?

Very nice track, shortpunks!

I really want to get my own RC-2!! Did you use your RC-2 with no footswitches, only one FS-5U, two FS-5U or one FS-6?
