standard D'addario Chromes detuned in B and a CS-3... detuning changes strings sounds and the CS-3 does'nt change the sound at all, but gives punch and sustain. |

no, I had one, Aria Pro II CTB, actually I play Washburn, same neck than the Aria Pro II, same feelings, but larger body and I like that. |

Thanks Kulten. I love this sound. Nice and deep. The action on my Jazz Bass is very low so I'm getting a little fret buzz due to the strings being so loose... However, my next planned purchase is a fretless, hopefully I won't get fretboard buzz on it. |

Nitpicking is ok with me... and I guess technically it's a fingerboard ... although I will be getting one of those models that has the lines where the frets would be if there were some (I would be lost without them)... I'm not sure what you'd call that? A "faux defretted former fretboard fingerboard"!? |

It sounds pretty good, considering its a mis mash of parts from evilbay. Took me about three months from the sketch pad to here,
The P90 style pup is clean, with a bit of growl and sounds really good parallel to the Keystone bridge pup, loving the `honk` from the neck OoP. The middle pup, originally for a Tele neck is surprisingly really nice. Had heard rumors of one or two others using a tele neck pup in the middle with good results. I did it because I was lazy and didn't want to buy and match another pup. Squire body, Starcaster neck (9.5 rad) with a freakin` cool 70`s style headstock, and metallic red to boot!! P`guard from Warmoth
No, I didn't use the 'vintage' mod (that the 1Meg pot one?) Its an adaptation of Guitarnutz's John H's Strat with two volumes http://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=schem&action=display&thread=3157 and redrew it so the neck would have the phasing switch, and the bridge series into the other two. The neat thing is, with it in series, the two volumes can be dialed in without cutting out the other. In parallel, I can use one for the neck or middle and the other for bridge. Using a 5-way super switch, I changed the N+M option to M>N instead, which sounded better and can now get all three in series! Using a concentric pot, one controls the N+M pups and the other is for the bridge, Two p/p pots, 500k tone for the N+M/N OoP, and a 250K p/p no-load tone pot for the bridge/Series. M>N...B>M>N N.....B>N N+B...B>N M+B...B>M B.....B>M |
