It look in great condition.
What exactly can you do with the SCC that you can't when just connecting the pedals separately? |

It can put them in any order without disconnecting anything.
Nice SCC sneaky. So clean. Are your rubber o-rings for the power supplies melted to the board. Mine were. What a mess that was. |

Well, for each "patch" (program) you can select the order of the pedals in the chain, which pedals are in the patch, and set the overall gain (either an increase or decrease in specific steps) of that patch.
For example, my band ramps up the vibe as we progress in a set, so the later patches on my board have a gain boost slightly to complement the band's increase overall--it also helps overdrive my tube amps slightly more as the signal is stronger. It's not necessarily a "boost" so to speak. |

Luckily they were intact and not fused to the board. They're a little dried out, but that's expected as this thing is 27+ years old. The little power-brick is probably the coolest thing on it. I've never seen a power supply like it--one that attaches the way it does to the board/case!
The story of it was that it was a store's display. No joke. They used it to display the BOSS pedals they had for sale. Somewhere in Oklahoma or Kansas or something (I have the seller's story here somewhere...).
Anyway, the guy I bought it from bought it in the mid-90's from that store. It had just been stored away as they no longer displayed BOSS gear. He never used it, so I got it. Basically the wear on it is from when it was a display piece, not performance wear. The pedalboard seems to have been implemented separate from the footcontroller. The footcontroller shows no wear and still has the small plastic film over the switch numbers and LEDs. The pedalboard/computer shows only scrapes on the edges, as seen in the photos.
I'm going to use it only for small gigs in reputable joints, then I'll probably have it only in collection for the rest of time. I'll probably wipe it down with a diaper every now and then just as Cameron said his dad wiped his Ferrari down in Ferris Bueller's Day Off... |
