Peavey Mini Collosal If you won the lottery that is. (for a low wattage practice amp anyway) |

| I like the Blackheart Killer Ant, though a friend of mine just told me about the 4 watt Vox's that can be switched to 1-watt or 1/4-watt... |

What tone are you looking for? Is versatility a factor(in other words, do you want clean and distorted sounds)?
I've heard good things about the new Vox AC4TV, along with several other Vox offerings that have built in digital effects.
Personally, for cleans I use a 1971 Fender Princeton Reverb I've had for years. You ordinarily wouldn't think of a PR as clean but this one has lots of clean headroom and is good for practicing clean lines at home.
When I feel like putting a little more hair on my at-home-practice notes, I plug into a Victoria 5112.
Let us know a little more about what you're looking for tonally. |

Roland MicroCube.
Small, but load.
The MicroCube RX is nice as it's a bit more wattage and has a basic drum machine too. |

Yeah microcubes are well worth the money. If price is an issue nothing really beats your local made in china 15 watt random brand amplifier for personal practice sessions.
It depends on what you already have if you already have a larger valve amplifier then i would get a microcube or a Vox VT-15
If you don't then a small valve amp is great. Blackstar Killer Ant and Vox AC4TV are great suggestions.
I have a H%K edition 20 in my holiday house, though that might be a few more watts than your thinking of (its between 20 and 40 can't recall) well compared to a 100W head its just a few watts. |

Vox AC4TV or Roland MicroCube fits the bill.
or for something needing a cab:
Blackheart Killer Ant, Orange Tiny Terror, or Vox Night Train.

Good...in that case, since you're just looking for a clean practice amp don't worry about tubes. I know that freaks out some tube purists(and I'm surprised I'm saying it too!) but for clean practice there's really no need to burn up tubes just to play clean around the house.
Any good quality solid state practice amp will do the trick. Fender and Vox make some good amps along that line, and for not much money. |

My 'practice amp' has nine valves in it including a rectifer valve...... ....i got it by pure luck, not by design for 100 old early 60's Selmer Stadium(i've posted pics before) 14 watts with tremolo..really too loud for home use as these amps really push out the watts but a sweet sound all the same....don't get fooled by the low rating on some of these small valve combos if you do go down that route..i've even used this amp on some small blues gigs with a drummer.......i think silvertones suggestion of a small tranny combo is a good one..fender are making a couple of hybrid valve/solidstate for not a lot of moolah lately with built in effects one a 5 watt and a 15 watt 1x10 that also might suit you........ |

I think i am more looking to like a tube amp cause 99 percent of my playing is done at home |

| if you're just playing at home and want a clean sound.. why not just use your Twin?? None of these 4w tube amps have much clean volume.. you might need to hit 20w+ for that - I say just use your Twin on 1/4 power! |

Hi zerksies
An all tube small. You might want to consider the Fender Champ 600 reissue. One 12AX7 and a 6V6 pushing 5 Watts.
A few member here have them, & If I recall, Goran swears by his.
Regards Dr. Bob
