I don't think that there's really a "louder" modification to be had here -- that's mainly going to be a function of your amplification. Mods to overdrive pedals typically involve tone adjustment -- addition of asymmetric clipping to the signal by mixing diode types, upgrading of bypass capacitors to improve fidelity, etc. You can also increase or decrease distortion, but not necessarily volume; pedals should aim for unity gain unless you're doing something like using a clean boost preamp to overdrive a tube amp's initial gain stages.
Trimmer adjustments are dangerous unless you know what you're doing or have service information and proper test equipment -- they are usually set using a meter or oscilloscope, and not "by ear".

The trim pot in the OD-2 sets a bias voltage level on a FET that is part of the distortion circuitry. You need a scope to center the waveform properly.
Grace and peace,
Steve

| The difference between the OD-2R and OD-2 is supposedly only the remote jack but the OD-2R is a bit loader than the OD-2. Maybe that's an alternative for you? |

| thanks for the quick replies,i probaly should have explained how i'm using the od 2,i use it in non turbo mode, level full, gain slightly over half way as a booster for solos or as a crunchy sound,i also have a jap ds 1 and a fz 3 before it as my main distortions,( i think thats what dave gilmour does with his tube drivers we do a few floyd numbers i'm a big fan)but the ds1 and the fz 3 seem to me to be louder. i was lucky with the ds1, i found it in the singers shed with an old rocktek phaser the i also use,the drummer gave me the fz 3 he had it in his attic,he is a pretty good guitar player too!! so would the sound of the od 3 be similar to the 0d 2 in non turbo mode but louder...? i have read some threads where praise the sound of the od2 but think its a bit to quiet.... |
