Hi, I just wanted to get your guy's respectable opinions on the PS-5's pitch shifting abilities compared to the older PS-3? Specifically the detune type options and the overall ambient/atmospheric/psychedelic effect type abilities. I have a delay pedal already so as far as sound quality, flexibility (I also own a harmonist already) and overall useability which one do you guys think is better? I checked out harmony central and a lot of people seem to dislike the PS-5 but these reviews are somewhat unreliable for effects that require some time to figure out. Also is the PS-2 any better than either of these? Thanks again!

the ps 5 is the absolute worst pedal ive ever used/owned. totally synthy...awful awful sounding thing. the ps3 is more interesting..and useful. for the kind of thing youve described, id say the ps3 is ideal. I use my ps3 for doubling, odd harmony and that cool reverse thing it does and also for the two lines out thing. it actually sounds natural. my feeling is that the ps3 will be one of the rare digital boss classics.

| i dont know. i have to disagree with svengali. i stand by my PS-5 totally. its never off, but it has to be set up right, and its much better used in stereo. |

strat, do you think the ps5 sounds 'organic'? i loath pedals that change the core tone too much. i found this pedal wiped out my guitars tone totally

i wouldnt go as far to say that it has an "organic" tone. of course it sounds digital. its a pitch shifter.
i find it only sounds synth like when you shift notes extremely high or extremely low,(+/-2 octaves) but these notes shouldn't really be expected to sound crystal clear.
i only find it wipes tone when its at the end of a long chain, but thats what the ns2, ls2, eh2 are for.

now its my turn to disagree the dd 2 and ps3 and even the rc 20 i have are all digital, yet they still sound organic. Also, some of the settings on this echo pro line 6 rack sound remarkably organic. To my ear, theyve really done something strange to the ps5, but, i understand that this only my take on this..you know, maybe i got a bad one.

| I think I may just get them both! They each have some things that the other one doesn't so I guess it'll just come down to which one is more suiting to my needs. Thanks guys! |

I have a Boss PS5 on the way. For some reason I elected to go for this instead of the Digitech Whammy. From some of the opinions on this board it seems I have made a mistake...
Anyone know how the PS5 holds up against the Whammy?
