| Which boss pedals would you say are highly overrated or which would you say are underrated. |

| I would cast my vote for the MZ-2 Digital Metalizer as the most overrated Boss pedal and for underrated, probably the RV-3 as it would answer the question - if you were on an island and could only have one Boss compact pedal, a guitar and a 4 track - which pedal would you pick? And it's interesting - both pedals offer 2 totally different effect types in one Boss compact pedal, which is rare, and yet I put them at opposite ends of the spectrum. |

| And, yes, I'm aware that the MZ-2 actually offers 3 types of effects ( Dist / Delay / Chorus ) - but only 2 are available at one time ( Dist/Doubling or Dist/Chorus ). |

I would like to say that the OD-2 is underrated.
It has always come in the shadow of the OD-1 and it's still sold for peanuts compared to other overdrive pedals. I think it sounds really great, escpecially in front of a good valve amp. |

The BD-2 as the most underrated
In my mis-informed youth I passed up the opotunity to own one for a TS-9.
I back to back compared them for about 2 hours in a shop and in the end something told me to by the TS-9.
You know what it was? The fashion conscious side of my brain!
I still regret it.
As far as overrated the OC-2 |

Overrated:BF-3. Sorry it just doesn't sound as good as the BF-2.
Underrated:CE-3. The stereo outs give me a nice shimmery spread of sound. |

| most overrated? hmmm.... maybe the SG1 slow gear. you can see it on ebay selling for almost 300$!!!! although i would like to have one, i don't think that its a versatile pedal. the underrated one i think would be the OD2. i think its the cheapest boss pedal, don't know why but it's really has some great settings |

| Not exactly on topic but I would say Made in Taiwan pedals are underrated. On average I think they sound just as good as the Made in Japan pedals. If you read the reviews on Harmony Central or Ebay ads it sounds like Boss lost the plot when they moved the production to Taiwan. |

| well, japan made is japan made. i for one swore that i will not keep a metal zone if its made in taiwan. since lots of people here already have a MT2. once i tried to use a ds1 mij and another ds1 mit, although the sound's almost the same, you can still hear a certain difference between the two. it sounded like the mij ds1 sounds smoother than the taiwan made |

Has anyone ever seen a MIJ MT-2? I was not aware of their existence. The only side by side comparison between a MIJ & a MIT pedal I have done was on a DS-1 as well and while both had the same character, the MIJ had a tighter, more focused bottom end. And as www.analogman.com states, when you use a component that's the same value, but the component itself is different than one that preceeded it, it will sound different. Somewhere from 0.0000001% - 100% but it will be different. Even components of the same make, year and production run can have tolerances that vary up to 20% or more ( sometimes not noticable in a mono circuit but if in a stereo circuit components that have a wide tolerance will cause phase issues, etc. ). |

| Anyone who says that they have a MIJ MT-2 is full of it. I've seen alot of supposed MIJ MT-2's on ebay and after checking this site I've come to the conclusion that the PPL selling "MIJ" MT-2's are trying to rip ppl off. it's pretty easy to switch a backplate from a real MIJ boss pedal and slap it on an MT-2. one of the shops i frequent had a guy trying to sell a MIJ MT-2, and he came to Bossarea to check on it and told the guy to get lost, and that there has never been a MIJ MT-2. sorry for the rant. |

| Thanks for the rant. Watch, someday it will become a modern day Loch Ness / Sasquatch / Yeti kind of thing but in a Boss pedal. |
