hello to all, most of us here are guitarists or bassist or play a stringed instrument. do you have any musical hero who plays another instrument, not guitar or bass whose playing has floored you? One of my heroes is drummer steve gadd whose playing is always musical, rhythmic and groovy not matter who he is backing. how about yours?

For drums I would say Neil Peart, Stewart Copeland, or Bill Bruford.
Keys and stuff probably JM Jarre. |

Hi Guys I'm going to go out on a limb here, & I sort of only expect Goran & Visserman, maybe one or two others, to know of this guy.
Andreas Vollenwieder.
http://www.vollenweider.com/splash.php?mailing= http://www.vollenweider.com/magazine/main.php?c=us&mailing= You can listen to some of his streamed music here as well
The early albums: 1986 Down to the Moon (re-release 2005) 1984 White Winds (re-release 2005) 1982 Caverna Magica (re-release 2005) 1981 Behind the Gardens... (re-release 2005)
I haven't heard any of his newer music.
Regards Dr. Bob |

What am I? Chopped liver? I have 2 of his albums
Jarre and Vollenwieder are OK, but how about Edgar Froese? Now there is a master of the art... |

| I like Matt Sorum's drumming, both with Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver. |

Well I have to nominate some good stuff. I know a lot of you guys are young Heavy Metal types but I think if your a musician worth your salt you can appreciate a good musician when you see one even if it's not the type of stuff you normally go for. So don't laugh but check out just about everyone on stage in this vid, I recommend watching the whole thing but if you can't at least check out the drum and percussion solo at 2:10 and if you stick around long enough you will see Karen Briggs and the conductor have a dueling violin solo that will blow you away oh and the sick bass tone at 4:07-4:09 ain't bad either |

I was one of them around about 1979-1981
In the video the violin duet was sheer magic. |

Mark E Smith of The Fall. A genius, even if he has a face like a bag of smashed crabs. |

and i will admit to loving the heavy side of music, but i love all types really. i know this is heavy guitar but check this video out, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5YEqmIIdj8, it is really quite amazing. |
