i have 2 Boss pedals, a slow gear SG-1 and spectrum SP-1, and they both have the same serial number...is this normal to have two different pedals with the same serial number? does it mean one isnt genuine?...
I have written about this before in an older post.
Laurie & I both have SP-1's with identical 6 digit, printed paper labels.
What makes it even more interesting is that we live worlds apart, and purchased them in the same year.
There is a similar story between two other members as well. But my memory fails me. Perhaps the other guys will pitch in with their comments. (I seem to remember Bossarea-Admin writing about it.)
are they both ink stamped directly onto the metal chassis under the treadle, or printed on a paper label (as Dr. Bob mentioned)??
It's too bad we don't know how many units were produced with a given serial number, or how they were numbered - maybe finished pedals were given numbers right at the end before packaging (likely as there's no other record of BOSS serials on the box or in the papers), which is why they're so randomly distributed.
